i try to hand signal only during the day,at night no one sees you anyway but i always seem to run across guys that signal there are 5 sleds coming only to never come across them.that pisses me off.truth in advertising should be the rule.i have a group that relies on me to be the leader and a group of guys that i can't keep up with so i am the sweeper.although thier riding style has kept me from going on a few trips with them lately.

That brings another forgotten item up, I tell whomever... @ night when coming across oncoming sleds we knock our beams down to LOW so everyone can see.

Not hearing from Sweepers. To me sweeper should be better rider than leader & know how to wrench on sleds & get you out of any problems you may have. Leader gets separated then what?.... who is going to get you where you are going? Who is on the com? Leader depends on Sweeper to keep the group together & Sweeper has to push pace from rear to do it right. Sometimes the leader is the fast fool on point nobody else will do it.... lol ......& why packs are so disorganized. Also why do Sweepers block faster traffic from behind the pack? We all know they do it I see it all the time usually 2 riders will block trail by staggering sleds thru width of trail. I get the message real quick stay back. It this correct sweeper method & the preferred plan from get go??

Here Here !!!!!!!
This has been thorn in my side for years. Why would you want to impair the vision of a sled coming at you with your brights.

X'2 whitedust sweepers must be very alert and have ample saddle time. I do think some sweepers run a block for wives and kids sometimes. When the trails are that busy I will wait till the sweeper clears the last stop to make sure the folks behind are not getting their panties in a bunch behind our group.

I ride alone a lot so when I come up to a slower pack I'm always looking for permissson to pass & 1 sled can be gone in 30 seconds. I always pull along side sweeper & brap knock on door no charging thru too dangerous. After I brap anything can happen from pull over & stop wave me by or the formation weave block. Again I'm a lone rider so sometimes I wonder if 1 sled does not make an impression. I have had very inconsiderate responses with outright refusal to let me pass. I'm like what the heck is the problem??? I have waited long enough ......no pass at stop signs, no moving over just more brap knocks & more weave blocks. Is there anything wrong with the brap knock? Is there a better way?? I look forward to ideas?
Thanks ,

When I come up behind a group there is no way to tell how many people in that party. The not stopping and waiting for the sweeper part drives me nuts. Last week I carefully passed a group of 10. They were all over the trail and never stopped to let anyone pass. The sweeper never turned his head so I look like an idiot passing all 10!! If the group is moving good I will stop and take a break but sometimes this does not work and you close in on the same group again!
