Light dim

99 SKS 700 light will go dim and then bright. Any Ideas? thanks

I would start by going over all the wires and check for good grounds too...

Yup...sounds like a ground issue.

I check volts only had 3 volts coming from voltage reg.

3X be there done that 3 times, first time burned out all bulbs, second time just as described above, third time last year buddies skidont. Completely quit. Had to stop and charge his battery from my sled several times to get back to trailer. (mine four stroke, I carry jumpers, sure beat dragging him back 70 miles)

If dim at idle rpm then brighter with rpm increase, stator is on its way out

Guess I'll find out also, got the same sled, same symtoms. I've seen the low lights, but the first time I rev it to 4-5k, it goes bright, and never fades again. Doesn't always do it either.

I'm leaning towards a ground issue for me based on the never dims again part once running. (Fingers crossed)

check the main wire harness under the engine plate it can and will chafe the wires ,voltage will then the go to grnd

Yeah, had that on my 99 XC 500, but the engine would cut out then. Its worth a look for sure though.
