MN locals know Seaton channel looking off 15 bridge
it is plugged up tight they are going to have to get a barge and push it back and get a few pylons driven to lock it in
u can see a few boats wont be leaving there dock any time soon
U can see a broke free of the other shore and just locked in

Sadly that is a rather small bog. We have had several floating loose on Lake Alexander recently, as big as 1 acre. The DNR has given it's blessing to remove them, but the first one required 266 dump truck loads!! They are nasty when the wind blows and can destroy docks and lifts all along the shorelines.

I dont think it is a acre but for reference the boat it is pushed up against the back in upper left is a 22ft .
took 2 larger barges to push it back out of the way then they drove down a hand full of pylons/telephone polls to hold it in place .they had it pinned back in place by mon afternoon .
on any given nice weekend well over 50boats a hr will go through that channel .
small bogs like 10x10 or so are kind of like a keep away game all summer. wait for a wind change and tow it off your dock or just give it a good shove for the next guy to deal with.

I have only seen bogs float up in man man lakes that have been flooded or lakes that have been damed & flooded in new areas where gases build up & up come bags. The flooding could have been 30 years ago & the bogs are ready to float. What causes bogs to float up in Minnetonka?

Bogs move from high water and wind just being right pushing them out of the spot they are at. Good fishing around bogs. I see them all the time on lake of the woods area in canada and they move from year to year. There was a favorite bog we always caught big fish around and one year it was gone after being in same spot for 10+years.

Lake Minnetonka has been around since the 1850's, or sooner. Perhaps the high water in the area this year has dislodged some swampy areas.

yeah deff not man made.
been around a whole lot longer than 1850.
one thing U all know about the lake is on the west end of the lake in mound is where your beloved child hood trucks and tractors were manufactured aka TONKA toy .and the western side swamp was the dump for yrs for that plant.
millions were spent from my city coffers cleaning that up dredging etc and turning it in to a park/marina
the bogs this yr are because of record high water .
they float up with the rising water then tear there roots out of the mucky bottom.
top that with high wind now u get bogs.
cut and past
lk Minnetonkais a 14,528-acre (59 km2) lake in the U.S. state of Minnesota. It is located west-southwest of the Twin Cities of Minneapolis–Saint Paul. The lake is irregularly shaped with numerous bays, peninsulas, and islands that form approximately 125 miles (200 km) of shoreline.[1] The lake is located almost entirely within Hennepin County; however, its southernmost extension, Smithtown Bay, reaches into the City of Victoria, which lies within northeastern Carver County. Lake Minnetonka is divided into two separate sections, the Upper Lake and Lower Lake (which refer to the flow of water from west to east, not geographical location
