Local Restaurants Taking Precaution After Scam Downstate

Local restaurants are keeping an eye out after hearing about a scam downstate.

The Michigan Department of Agriculture is warning restaurants about a fake food inspector.

Health Departments in the southern part of Michigan say people are impersonating food inspectors and getting confidential information.

Health officials say just because they haven't heard of the scam around here, doesn't mean you're safe.

They're still asking local restaurants to be wary, and if you have concerns contact your local health department.

9&10's Kelly Davis and photojournalist Jeff Blevins explain the concern surrounding the scam.

When they asked me about the helmet & suit, I just tell them I'm from " American Snowmobilier " or something.
