lodging near houghton

My son turns 18 next Friday and he wants to do a overnight on the trail. we have a cabin in Presque Isle Wisconsin so we would start from there on Friday morning. I would prefer to stay at a mom and pop type place versus a American Inn. But I also don't want a renovated garage, someplace nice. Any suggestions would be great.

Trailside Lodge on the north side of Calumet fits your description. Very nice place, right on the trail.
I've been there a few times, and will go again.

Trailside lodge just north of there in Calumet. Yooper Lodge in Twin Lakes a bit South of there. Two places I've stayed. I assume you go to up to Copper Harbor. I think there's a place to stay up there too.

Go on the North woods directory on the front page of the site and start making calls. You may have a tough time finding a room for a Saturday night.
Good luck you never know what you will find.

Wildlife Refuge Cabins in South Range perhaps? All of these are great places, but I know you said "near Houghton". Best to check availability now.-Mezz

Ramada Hancock. But good luck getting a room... oops not mom and pop either. Really like the Wildlife Refuge cabins.
