Log Cabin Pizza in Conover

Always plan to go here but have never made it. I think I'll be going by in time Friday night to order a pizza to go. Give me some suggestions if I should order a thin, pan, or Chicago style. I like them all so I'm interested in what people think they do best. Of course my ability to eat it in the truck while driving may be challenged, but that will be worth it if the pizza is good.

Pan would be a challenge in the truck, but it's good. I get the thin and order when I am right past Sugar Camp and it's ready. For thin, I like TJ Grizzlies in Land O Lakes. Great sausage. But a little out of the way if heading North, by about 5 minutes.

I haven't had the pizza since the new owners took over. Is it still as good as when the prior owners ran the place? I heard the new owners didnt get the receipe. The prior owners now own a small place in Eagle River and I heard they sell their pizza there.

Yeah I heard the same thing but didn't want to rain on someone's parade till I tired it.

Please tell me where the old Log Cabin owners are now, cuz my wife and I have been having withdrawals since they left. The new Log Cabin pizza is still good, and the Chicago style is the best they have now, but not even close to the old Log Cabin pizza. Used to have to stop there every time, and now have no problem driving past.

I guess this is what I'd like to know too. Not saying anything bad about the new owners, but I always planned to stop in and never did so it would be good to try the original pizza I intended to have, then compare it to the new owners stuff. If someone knows the name of the new place it would be nice to get that info.

Despite the internet, I think it best to stop into a place and form ones own opinion.
If it is good, talk it up, if it is just OK, say so or say nothing and ....if you got sick ,...blast away.

I'm not following this real well. You’re saying make your own opinions, but your also saying tell everyone your opinion. If I’m supposed to make my own opinions based on what I experience then why do I care what your opinion is, based on what you experienced?

Not picking on you here Snobuilder, but just see why asking for peoples opinion is so bad especially when you say “talk it up” based on an experience someone may have had at a particular place.

Tried to edit that last line to read "... but just don't see why..." but for some reason it wouldn't allow me to make any edits to it.

Bill and Tori now have " The House of Dogs" on Wall Street in Eagle River and you bet they have the pizza recipe with them! Call ahead and order one up! Oh yeah, there Philly's are the bomb!

Keep in mind if you want the Chicago the style from "Log" you will have to dine-in as the pizza is too large to fit in a pizza box to go. All the pizza is still very good just a little different than when Lederers or Bill & Tori had it in the past. You also have a great choice in pizza just 4 minutes up the road at Club 45 on Old HWY 45. Chicago style pizza made by a second generation Chicago pizza restaurant guy, Daves grandpa had a pizza shack in downtown Chi. Great toppings and they have a take and bake that you can .......well......take & bake. I recommend the pizza called The House of Payne (sausage, pepperoni, onion, tomato, garlic, basil, spinach and olive oil), titled after Dave and Jen's last name, Payne.

caged beagle is correct, club 45 has terrific pizza. I personally like thin crust and it is quite good there as well. I am from Chicago area and am used to good pizza. its also nice to sit in the bar and watch hawks games.

Well I tried to order a pizza last night on my way up. Unfortunately I got a later start than I intended and I waited until I got to Sugar Camp to order like Pez suggested. It was 10:03 when I called and they said the kitchen closed at 10. I pleaded my case and explained just a small thin crust to go, but to no avail they wouldn't take my order. So while I wanted to try the pizza at the Log Cabin to form my own opinion, I still haven't been able to do so.

Dave and Jen are friends. I went to H.S. with Dave and also went to a number of Blackhawks games with him. I have not been to their place in many years, but sounds like I need to make a special trip soon!

On a friday night?? Geez that is piss poor right there. Reminds me of a local pizza place here. You have to make an appointment for pizza. Once all the appointments are filled for the day NO PIZZA FOR YOU is how it goes. Some of the best stuff I have ever had but the whole pizza nazi thing keeps me away...
