In the area that I had a cabin many years ago, it was the locals that broke in and stole anything they could find after they had their party and trashed the place. This happened year round.

Ended up selling the place and getting a place in a more populated area where the neighbors could keep an eye on things.

Same with me at my Amasa MI camp. It was the couple 'troubled' (not youth either) locals and a few transients that did most of the break ins. Loved the natural beauty of the area but did not need the 'leave and go home' attitude from some of the jealous locals. Made many friends there but the trouble makers were not worth my time. Funny thing, the locals were the ones dumping all the garbage on Bates Amasa RD. (Hwy 643) but my wife and I and other 2nd property owners were the ones constantly cleaning up their trash.

I think the sign is great props to who put it up I will do the same. 6 dnr at a checkpoint what a waste of state money get real I seen it and warned many people at the mosquito. As far as people messing with equipment I have a hard time beliving it was sledders and if it was that's dumb of them hope they get caught. I perhaps think its made up by people on here myself to try and get less people to ride offtrail

you rode by this? Just checking trail passes I take it?

I know the logger that is logging behind the prison in Painesdale and this is a issue with the loggers, the biggest problem is those boondocking through the woods and coming upon his roads and crossing them, throwing rooster tails all over the road , that then freezes and they have to pull their plowng equipment out and have to re plow their roads, (we go through this daily at the cabins, that sh-- freezes and it is a time consuming to pull the equipment out and plow frozen humps , broke our plow 2 times this year).Plus he has had trouble with peeps vandalizing his equipment, trail cams and stealing fuel. As nhra1000 posted our days are coming with the back country riding generation, and if we don't get involved it is going to come to an end.

Plus what Dave told me is the guys are shooting their roosts onto the plowed logging roads and then it freezes and the loggers regular truck/plow just goes over the frozen mounds making the logger have to go get the bulldozer out to clear the road!
The regular county plow drivers can have the same problems as well!
Just drive down M26 from Twin Lakes to South range! The place is a fricking zoo from boondockers roosting snow all over the ditches onto M26!
Its sucks for me to see this lack of common sense and respect!
This crap is going to come to a head and wreck it for all of us!
I sure wish elsewhere Midwest would get snow to lighten the load up in Da Yoop!
Please use common sense out there people!

It's seems as though we snowmobilers are becoming our own worst enemies!! We just keep giving the environmentalists more and more ammunition to use against us.

We rode past 4 checkpoints last Saturday in this area. Seemed like a huge waste of resources since anyone passing the first checkpoint had to pass 3 more. They checked for trailpasses and registration stickers but did not stop anyone in our group. There were about a dozen law enforcement and dnr people. By far the largest show of force that I have ever seen in over 10 years of riding this area.

Becoming? We have been for years...

It's not just the environmentalists that we are handing ammunition to, think every voter and decision maker that is not a snowmobiler.

the trailer house and yard full of crap behind the first pic , you sure weren't going in that field

I hope the off trail riding gets shut down, huge wake up call for all the users and abusers. I gave up on that area for the simple reason EVERYONE and their brother goes there and thinks its THEIR playground and the Locals NEED them there. WRONG.....Respect and common sense are hard to find now a days and with that so will good areas open to ride.
