Long term Snowmobile Storage ?

Just wondering I have had several snowmobiles summerized by a dealer. Fogging etc.

One snowmobile hasn't been touched- started in over 2 years the others for over one year. They all have gas in them.

Is it o.k. to keep as is or do I need do do something else?

I have 5 snowmobiles but over the last 2 years only my wife and I use 2 of them.

Thanks, bruce

p.s. no use selling them they have high miles and can be used as backup sleds.
Also whenever my son, son in law, etc are up they would use them. Just hasn't worked out last few years. Son's girlfriend prefers to ski and my son in law hasn't been up in 3 years.

Fogging is to protect the internal bearings on the motor, nothing to worry about that sitting for a long time. Should smoke A LOT when started, which is a good sign!

As for the 1+ year old gas, drain as much as you can, top off with fresh, and pull the rope! If they were stabil'd, or better yet the carbs run dry, you should be ok, but I would still replace the old gas.

If I was going to let them sit for a few yrs I would dump some oil down the plug holes and turn over a few times slow so at least my crank bearings were soaking in oil .and make sure carbs are drained

When I tuck the sleds in the the summer I liberally spray WD40 over all the suspension parts (front and back) and some parts under the hood too. Except of course the clutches and belt. It helps to keep unwanted moisture getting into things. Bought a gallon of WD40 and a spray bottle for 13 bucks and I use that setup more than the aerosol can.

This is the best simple thing do do fill with 93 octane last ride Feb or March, then start once every month let it run 5 minutes then shut it off, no stabile needed only put in a little isoprofile in, for water, then in October or November siphon all the old gas out, use for snowblower or pitch put in new 93 octane and your good to go this has worked the best in the last 15 years, this simple method keeps air from getting in fuel lines and no dirty carbs ever my dealer says I miss your tune up's also by starting your sled every month no flat spots on your belt, also my new 2009 800 dragon fuel injection even works better.

But my friends learned the hard way drain sled 30 pulls later starts smokes runs like **** dealer time.

I used to drain my gas lines and fog it and had problems getting it ruining in the fall and in a few years cracked fuel lines and dirty carbs the dealer likes you doing this.
