I sent you a PM earlier today. I have a place in Keweenaw County that I have been thinking about selling. It has vinyl siding, new windows and has alot of updates inside. It is also fully furnished and the way it is set up will sleep 5-8. It is right on Hwy 41 and about 1/2 mile from the snowmobile trail. I am thinking in the range of $37,000.

Does this place have a garage? Do you leave the heat on when you are not there or do you have to winterize everytime?

I'm just curious. I'll be interested in something like this in 4-5 years hopefully, but like to learn all I can.

Just get on www.realtor.com and start lookin.....best deals are NOT now tho....late summer and early fall get the best deals but some stuff will fall off the market then too.

Spend some time and cruise the website and keep track of addresses and then watch and take a few trips this summer.

you will find something if you put the time in.

Doesn't hurt to drop an small ad in the local papers in areas you want to get to, and see what happens...whatcha got to loose?

This tough economy will continue to surface some good deals from folks who just want to bail out. And remember a work in progress can be finished by contractors if the price is right so don't exclude stuff that needs a little tlc...that condition goes hand in hand with someone who once was eager to go, and has long since lost interest in the place. Once that happens, things go down hill, but those are the very motivated folks you want to explore.

Remember part of the fun is the hunt....leave no stone unturned and don't get in a hurry....take your time, sort thru and find the deals and then let them know you have interest....the rest is easy.

No there is not a garage there, but plenty of room to build one. As for the heat I leave it set at about 40. I aldo have a Cottage Sitter hooked up to the heat and when I am about 2 hours away I will call and turn the heat on and it's nice and warm when we get there. Doing it this way I go through about 100 gallons of fuel oil a year. It also has a wood burner in the basment that I use once I get there.
