Planning a trip from Hayward to Iron River Wisconsin, and up to Cornucopia...does anybody know mileage from Hayward to Iron River, and from Iron River to Cornucopia?
We have never ridden this area, it will be our first time in February...thanks in advance

Hayward to Cable, Lakewood Resort, 1 hour easy. From Lakewoods going North across Lake Namekagen to Pioneer Bar keep proceeding north thru Grand View toward Ashland to connect with Tri County Corridor Trail. From there up thru Bayfield Peninsula to Valhalla than on to Cornucopia. From Ashland to Cornucopia with a 12 year old driving a sled at 30 miles per hour takes about an hour and a half. For experienced adults 1 way can be made in 3 hours with no problems.

Lakewood Resort and Pioneer Bar have fuel and food, the resort is more spendy but the breakfastis great. Cornucopia has a gas station and Bar, can't remember the names. Only time we were ever there was to access Lake Superior to get near ice caves the last time they were open; which I believe was 2012.

Friday and Saturday nights I believe Deep Lake Lodge is open for super on Deep Lakes south of Brule. The Prime Rib is really good.

You will find an abundance of Bars and Lodges down by Hayward. We always stay at Lakewoods. This goes back to when I was a kid.

Are you backpacking from Lake Tomahawk, Attackman?

I could be wrong, but I do think the main trail from GrandView up to the Tri CTY Corridor has been closed, Now you have to go to Sandborn to Ashland or up to Iron River. We discovered that last year trying to go North, although it was still on the Paper map and Ride Command. It screwed up our plans a bit trying to show someone The Plywood Palace.

Yes, I know they shut that down. It was faster with that section.
