Looking for sled rental reccomendations

Before kids and work I used to visit the UP and ride a lot. Sold the sleds when the kids were younger and in hockey and now want to take them up and go riding again. Looking for somewhere in the western UP that rents snowmobiles and more specifically will let a 17 yr old with a snowmobile certificate ride one too. Let me know if you know of any. Thanks

Dave

Can't speak to the 17 yo question, but try Pat's to start, if they can't rent to you based on the age issue, they sure will help you figure out who can. If you're heading north call Chad at MM Powersports and check with him.

Gotta go with with Timberline. Mark and Shawn are the best!
They have a great rental fleet and new machines every year.

I have bought sleds from Kip and his crew often and have had many repairs done. Bottom line.TRUSTWORTHY HONEST FAIR....Rents both Yamaha and Polaris. Besides, now you are in the middle of great trails.BONUS..

All good options. The most convient places less hassle of dropping off /or picking up would be Lake gogebic motel, mandm in hancock across the street from ramada,or trailside lodging in calumet . The sleds are right there where you are staying if you were staying at any of those places.

Cloverland Motorsports in Ironwood

Are you serious? I wouldnt rent a hammer from them let alone a sled...ask the locals about this guy.

Timberline hands down....Mark is the best! Or farther north...Kip and his crew....they are also top notch!

Stayed in Ironwood last weekend. Long story short I needed an exhaust ypipe donut and 3 exhaust springs, you know the parts that haven’t changed on a Polaris liberty in 25 years... well cloverland had neither and had to drive an hour 15 to Pats, they had everything and a spring tool and I was on my way! Pats never disappoints.

Have rented for son each year starting when he was 14. Only two that I have found that will let them drive is Cloverland and Eagle All Sport in Hurley. We never had any issues, but I would call and verify before booking.

Cloverland makes you put down a credit card damage deposit. Eagle All Sports does not. I've heard stories of Eagle trying to charge for previous damage. I made sure I took A LOT of pictures of each sled before we started and spent time on the pre-rental forms marking everything.

Try Land O Lakes Recreation. Rented for 13-14 year old there a few years ago. Just had to rent it under the parents name, then okay for youth to ride it.

Better reserve one today if you're in need of one and you're planning on riding the weekend of February 13th. Might be tough to find one that weekend.....

I will say there was a rental place near Copper Harbor that charged our whole group $500 for cancelling reservations a week in advance. This was March of last year and the only "good trails" to ride on were from pretty much north of Mass City and by the time we got there those would have been mostly dirt. The other rentals places stopped renting that week. Kind of a crappy deal and we won't be going back there.
