I am looking at getting a 2006 RMK 700 with the 144" track. The sled has 4k miles and looks to be in great shape. Has a newer track. is there anything I should know about these sleds? Is it a sled worth buying? The guy wants $3500 for the sled. I know the 900's had a lot of problems with torque..... anything with the 700's? Thanks for all and any help.

I have a 06 600 rmk. Once you get these sleds dialed in they are awesome. Make sure all the updates were done, gas tank carb boots, chain case reinforcement. Check with your dealer with the vin number , If the updates were not done they will do them. I also had a problem with the belt being to tight. When i started the sled it would take off by its self. My sled only has 900 miles on it and is in new condition. I ride with fellas that have 700 and 800 sled and have no problem keepn up . I think my sled is faster and has more power than some of them . Enjoy your purchase,

The 700 that year was the big block too, and vibrates like the 900 did. Although it didn't get as much bad press, I think it had similar issues. But if it's got 4k miles on it, it's probably doing fine. I think it will just vibrate more than normal for you. The 700 is EFI and the 600 marty talked about is an HO. I had the 2006 Fusion 600. Same sled, longer track that's all. I'm sure for the right price, you'll enjoy it. As marty said though, there were quite a few minor recalls for those sleds, so make sure they were all taken care of.

I have a 2005 Rmk 900 and I love the sled. The one recomendation I have for the sled is if you are going to ride off trail put the 2005 spindles on, if you are riding more trail the 2006 spindles will provide tighter cornering. The reason that I say to run the 2005 spindles off trail is that the sled is easier to carve because it is not as wide.

Polarisrider1 has that same sled.... pm him

I sold the sled to a fellow JD'er. It has all upgrades and everything else you could imagine but the 05 spindles done to it. Sled runs perfect. If you get one bone stock you will need to do about $1500 plus worth of upgrades not counting labor. My sled was under warrenty and still has another year warrenty on it for the new owner, it was a carryover. Key is carb boots, motor mounts. The 755 and 900 are pure torque making motors such as a big block Chevy is. Hence them being called "big blocks". Torque stops from SLP are manditory. I ran a stock belt. The guys who are eating belts have the motor twisting causing belt alignment issues. I rode Wintertimes 900 at IP and got a perma grin. The sleds are not for everyone. You have to know how to tinker to get them just right. A lot of the crank issues had been caused by the drive belt breaking under extreme load when the motor changed alignment. not because of some wimpy bearings or cranks as some say. I had a ton of fun with mine and never left me walking. I followed the advice from the 755/900 guru's on snowest to the letter. I am all geeked up to try out the "new" RMK chassis on a 2012.

Thanks for all the info on the sled. & Polarisrider1 thanks for your input. Its not that I dont know how to tinker with the sleds, but for the cost of buying one and then getting all those things done to it..... I might be better getting something newer, which is why I asked the question on here. I am sure the sled would have been just fine, but.

I think I might just spend a little more money and get something newer. I have my eye on a 2008 RMK 700 Dragon.
