Man, been owning and driving 3/4 ton trucks for 30+ yrs, and have YET to get more than 40k on ANY set of tires, my average is about 36k
and have tried a good 25-35 different types of tires
I do NOT run ANY tire till its Bald , as I never feel like running winter time on low tread, as from MY experience, ONE accident doesn't save any Penny;s
NOT sure where or how anyone gets 50+k on tires in these big heavy trucks??

I will add the LONGEST lasting tries I have used have been the Michelin LTX AT's
had just about 40+K and replaced before a winter time cross country trip, MIGHT have got to 50 on them, BUT again wasn't about to try a winter trip across the USA on so so titres, just to squeeze a few more miles out of them
the peace of mind of NEW treads on a trip like that is worth the earlier replacement
but to each there own

I will add MY worst tires TO date have been Firestones destination AT's, have had them go out in under 20 k, and tried 3 sets, due to dealer telling me first set was a fluke deal, and gave me second and third set at a price so low I said OK
all 3 sets wore out in under 30k, and first in under 20K

Well I have tried to check out all the recommendations and due to me having 20" rims I am limited. I have only found three tires available. The wrangler sr-a's, Goodyear with Kevlar and the Cooper's. I've been to three tire shops and they say the same thing, It was one of Gm's brilliant ideas as I've been told. Even TIRERACK only lists the three. Unless I want to buy a different size or new rims and have the dealer re calibrate my computer. I don't think I need an unhappy wife looking at new rims AND tires. Definitely would put a dent in household! Thank for all the suggestions. I did look into all the different tires and was hoping to have more options.

My 09 1/2 dodge work truck has Michelin LTX MS. P275/60 R20 tires. 52,000 miless on them and look new. Run 54psi. Truck has never less then 1500# in box and sometimes as much as 2800# in back. Day in day out. Rotated 2 times. Used to be a BFG AT fan.

if you changed wheels and stayed at same OD of tire, you wouldn't need to have anything re calibrated

when they first went to 17's on HD truck, it was like this, only 3-4 tires to pick from and they all sucked IMO
BUt as time went by, more and more options came out
my new truck now has 18's and seems to have more options than I had in same size tire with 17 inch wheels
you can MANY times find take off wheels for your truck, as MOST trucks have different wheel sizes offered when you order them(my dodge had options of 18-20-22's) so all would work on the truck and open the door to more tire options again
many guys that add lift kits to trucks have take off they sell, for a fair price at times

I ran the stock Michelins on my Dodge Diesel for the first 50,000 and swapped them for Goodyear Wrangler Extremes. Now those were an amazing tire. First Goodyear tire I've ever owned that performed great and lasted past 80,000. They no longer offer them. Figure that out, finally a Goodyear tire that performed and lasted. I could go places in 2wd that I couldn't go in 4wd with the Michelins. Currently have a worn out set of Bridgestone Revos in 315 70R 17 that were so so at best. I'm shopping as well and am undecided as to what I'm going to do. The truck really came into itself when I upgraded to the 315's after the stock tires wore out.
