Looks Like The Snow Gods Answered Everyone Prayers

Wish the snow gods would share a little with us down here, but for the businesses up there I am so glad to see this, looked like what could have been a quick end to such a banner start and on probably one of the busiest weeks for them, this and what John's forecast is just what they needed!

Hate to be a downer...but not much has changed...we have snow, and it's snowing hard now (in Tomahawk)....but the lakes, and wet areas aren't safe, and areas that were closed remain closed...it's very soft and slushy out there.

Right now it doesn't even look like we had a melt down out there.

I was real happy to see this developing yesterday. We will probly be able to have a decent first ride this coming Jan 4, 5 & 6.
Over the years it is usually hit and miss this early. I will take it as it comes....no complaints here.

3-4" here in St Germain. Snowblowed the driveway and there is 1-2" of ice and slush underneath. Trails should be good in a couple of days with grooming. Lakes and swamps not good yet and probably won't be for another week or more if we don't get colder weather.

Snow gods didn't answer any prayers in NW WI. I was riding 2 and a half feet of snow two weeks ago...only 12-18 now. Still good base for this time of year tho but as others have stated, need a freeze.

Two sleds sunk yesterday in a swamp(two different groups)...just north of Dan and Mels bar, north of Tomahawk....also a portion of a trail in northern trail's system near kelly fire lane has been closed..temperarily...due to water...its wet out there...heavy, snow, rain, and warm weather has made a mess of some trails...swamps and wet areas are tricky...and lakes are NOT safe, and there is no plan to mark them anytime soon...its not as pristine as some folks are saying...again..dont want to spoil anybody's fun..just know what your getting into if you ride the next couple days in northern Wisconsin

When the snow dust cleared, we did pretty well. It's not set up at all in the ditches yet so there's plenty of trenching to be had there. Drifts on the downwind side of the islands on the south end of Lake of the Woods are starting to build. Riding the ice on that side of the islands is like riding on a cloud. Just need to avoid the slush problem now.

This coming weekend is shaping up to be real nice.....maybe even for the north central state lake area swamp people....
