I'll be ALL over that area This Saturday through Saturday. (Staying in Ahmeek) I'll Keep an Eye open. If it's found and needs a ride back, let me know before I leave.
Cell phone needs no cell signal for GPS to work. And my cell, regardless of lock or not, you have to bypass the CONTACT page first to do anything with it. the phone goes to Contact page 15 seconds after non use.

WOW! I really appreciate your offer. And believe me I will take you up on it no matter what. Take a ride to Copper Harbor from Houghton for me. ;) Oh and along the way hit the trail that goes to Eagle River and Eagle Harbor. We didn't go far towards Eagle Harbor, maybe a couple of miles from the intersection.

It's so nice to know that the JohnDee family looks out for one another! Everyone is fantastic!!!

Lets find it, for those of us who are out and about, ya never know. Keep it alive even when the snow melts. I found an Ipod on my property that sat in the snow for a couple of months. It was wet. I put it in a bag of rice and used a blow dryer. That was 3 yrs ago. It still works now.

All of everyone's kindness and caring almost brings me to tears. Thankfully no matter how wet they get the memory sticks should be okay. I can always put those into something different to retrieve the images. Also, I believe the windshield bag is waterproof.
I'm going to try to contact Verizon again about the GPS coordinates. Need to do that today because my new phone arrives today and I will be activating it.

Okay I think I just gave up hope. Seeing that there is a winter storm warning with a potential for another 9-15 inches. Best hope I have is for spring...
Not feeling so good right now. :(

Thanks for everyone's efforts and suggestions though!

I noticed you keep mentioning the phone and camera, question is, shouldn't everyone be looking for a windshield bag instead? or was the bag unzipped. A bag discription would go a long way such as color etc. Does the bag have a skidoo logo on it. What is at the back of my mind is, How does a windshield bag fall off that is in front of you while trail riding and not see or feel it fall off? Are you sure it was not stolen off your sled at a stop during that day and you noticed it while driving down the trail. Reason I ask is I had a GPS stolen off my sled at a pit stop once and searched the trail for miles in denial.

Good point! The camera and phone are in a black Ski-Doo windshield bag which was zipped closed. It is small, black, with yellow stitching and Ski-Doo is on it. For anyone that has a Doo it is the little triangle shaped bag that fits into the windshield. The bag is only attached by velcro and sometimes would bounce. I think the velcro was wore out and sometimes if it had too much snowdust around it the velcro would loosen up. And normally I would have noticed stuff like this but this time up we had our son up and he was on my husbands sled infront of me so I kind of was paying more attention to them. Seems like an airheaded thing I know...trust me I keep telling myself that. Maybe I'm trying to make an excuse for myself but I also have another bag on the handle bars and a riser so seeing something fall from the windshield doesn't happen. I am pretty confident in the area that it was lost because I had to go through some deep snow to get around an obstacle in the trail, then the trail that lead to Eagle River got pretty bumpy so I think it bounced off there.

Like I said I know for certain that I had it at the intersection by Pheonix where you go to Gay. The trails were a smooth sailing so I don't think it came off until we got closer to the split to Eagle River/harbor or Cooper Harbor. Believe me I have played that entire day over and over trying to see it in my head.

WOW!!!!!!!!!!!! AND A BIG BIG BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!!

I just received a phone call from a cell phone store in Houghton who has my bag with the cell phone and camera in it. A nice man dropped it off in the store for help locating the owner. The bag was picked up along side the trail. No other details were given. However he did leave his phone number so I have already left him a voicemail to contact me so that I can say thank you!

My faith in peoples honesty has been restored and I am so touched by everyone's offering to help me!

THANK YOU JOHN DEE users! And a super big Thank You to the honest man who turned in my stuff! :D

That is fantastic! I must admit I didn't have too much hope. I'm glad it worked out! I'd be putting some rivets or screws in that bag. Sounds like a poor design.

Another great story with a happy ending.

It is starting to feel like sledders are good people.

I have always felt that 99% of sledders are good people! Have you always felt they weren't? Stories like this only confirm my feelings. :)
