I always carry....no exception, except when I'm not legally able toooooo. to many nutjobs in this world........although you can't brandish your firearm, a simple theft isn't really calling for a firearm as well. I would have to say it would be nice to catch someone in the act but still a simple confrontation could solve the issue.

I carry mostly for my time in the woods....I've had a couple of scary encounters with some animals over the years and simply don't want to have to deal with that when I'm trying to enjoy the outdoors. in the back of my mind I'd never want to ever use my firearm unless target practicing or hunting....but I will never be begging for my life with someone else pointing one at me.....I know that is so rare, but it makes me feel better....most people would be shocked how many
concealed permits have been issued in Houghton County. this wasn't meant to start a back and forth thing but it is a right to carry after you go through the proper training/education.

and no I haven't seen your tail-light. you might be able to find a used one online for a cheap fix...bummer it's gone.

times 100...and chi-sledder.....go ahead and let yer guard down....but do what I do....I carry an extra tail light lens on me at all times....I suggest you do the same...MEZZ is it possible to be that naïve????

That is entirely possible, but I find it hard believe, anybody who has been out & about, no matter what you do, you have to concern all possibilities, no matter where you are.-Mezz

Don't laugh at that one, Unless of course someone had it off & did not tighten the nuts down after reinstall, you have to admit that it's awfully peculiar that a tail light assembly would just "fall off". In fact, in 34 years of sledding, it's never happened to me or any of my riding group(s) ever & a majority of the miles ridden in that time frame were in the back country. You can relax, but not a good idea to never let your guard down.-Mezz

100% agree.....I've ridden with Mezz a bunch and other groups for many years....never heard of one falling off.....I have heard of them falling apart........for instance one time when Mr. JD himself was snugging up to my bumper :)

My understanding is that it is illegal to carry while riding a snowmobile in Iowa.

thats funny.. of course you cant carry when drunk....must be like wisconsin... if youre on a snowmobile you must be drunk and bar hopping. the up is a little diffrent. can be a ways between stops and you go to ride...dont carry if you wanna get drunk, go to sconsin because everyone is drunk there

When I say I let my guard down, I don't mean that I close my eyes. Where I live is slightly different than the U.P., (sarcasm), so with that being said I simply mean the people I run across in the U.P. are genuine and for the most part very nice, unlike where I live and what I am used to dealing with. I am very aware of my surroundings at all times and I carry at all times, I rarely drink and if I do the weapon stays home. I am still wondering how a lost taillight housing developed into this conversation? Lol

When I was growing up we had a local game warden who never carried a gun. His take on it was that bringing out a gun would only escalate an already unfriendly encounter. He made it all the way to retirement wihtout shooting anybody or getting shot. I know lots of folks who have CC permits. Most of them are normal but some are off the deep end. Just about anybody can get a CC permit. Back to the original thread NO I don't know where your taillight is. Our group used to get stuff ripped off all the time when we all rode new stuff. Now we ride old junk and we don't have that problem anymore.
