Anyone on here make money parting out snowmobiles? Just curious. Seems like you see a lot of people selling parts on ebay. I'm more curious than anything else.

My brother does it full time. CASH business. He is...... lets say doing well. You need a building or zoning that approves of the business. Constant traffic to your business and guys will try to beat you up all the time on prices which in turns tends to "Harden" ones soul. Ebay is not the way to sell anymore, to many fees, etc. Repo cast and online auctions work well and a word of mouth brings them in. Craigs list brings out tire kickers and people who just want to talk on the phone. Vintage sleds is his specialty.

Also know a guy who lost his skidoo dealership due to parting out new sleds on ebay that he was suppose to sell on the showroom floor. (I bought skis from him once.) Skidoo said no! no! and shut him down.

Have parted out a couple of sleds and did make some alright money doing so, but not really worth the effort it took. I still have boxes of misc parts that nobody wanted taking up space in my garage.

I've been doing it for years. Pol1 is right ebay is not what it use to be I still ebay but don't make near the money I use to if you want to do it full time you just cant do snowmobile parts you got to mix it up a bit .Quads bikes ect. years ago I used to take 86-89 Honda 250r part them out and make a killing on them. Banshee parts did ok too. Used to make 2500 to 3k a month. But I was hitting it hard. I never did quite well with sled parts.

I have parted a few always did alright but I also bought them right. or totaled on my own with out full coverage.
more work than it is worth to me now unless I total another my self and dont want to file the insurance.
cost of swaps is huge now e bay to much shipping a huge PITA the Craigslist people who never show.
I usually just sell all my aftermarket and take off parts on HCS stuff goes pretty quick over there

I like what everyone said, I tend to agree with Ezra, HCS is a good source for alot of things.
I remember buying jetski mods off of e-bay, got snookered a few times then moved to a forum.

I think I'm going to round my stuff up and clear out all the excess this year, have tons of teenage daughter coats, helmets, gloves, that was barely used.
If anyone is looking for gear ( girl gear ) FXR pink, black, fuschia, ??? Ping me on the forum. I also have some BRP helmets Mod1 & mod 2's would be willing to help out a fellow member with kids gear, cheap.
