Here's an idea I honestly think could fix the boards: A Training Wheels section. It seems to me that 99% of the problem posts come from brand new posters to the site who either have an agenda or are just trying to stir up problems. If a section was set up where new posters would either have to post "X" number of times before being allowed on the other forums, OR, there could be a waiting period (just like when you want to buy a gun) between when you apply to post and when you are allowed to make your first post.

Generally, I don't think the problem is with people who have been on here for a long time and occasionally skirt the rules, it's with new people who have no interest in joining a fun and constructive dialog.

John, I like the way you are thinking of going with this. Wouldn't it be great to see a more positive attitude on this board. Although, like Skiroule said, a little salsa is good too once in a while.

Love the idea. May also work to help keep the spammers in that section for easy deleting by the mods.
But what would the neebies post in the training wheels section? Would it be a mirror of the regular section or would topics be limited? Sounds great but how would you implement it?

Still... could you imagine what the site would turn into? here we already have 5 pages and over 100 posts on the possibility of just adding such a page.... we would never get another forecast out of John...... :)

I think it would be appropriate to appoint Indy_500 as the moderator for the Training Wheels forum. Whatever he says goes.

I think only those with 500 or more posts can whine in the whiners section! Haha....

I love this web site! I learn alot from the whiners. Look at that bad trails thread. Good ol Lenny tought me alot about grooming, and life, and what kind of a cool guy he is. I think I have a man crush..Lol!

Yea my thoughts exactly..the negative posts can have positive outcomes..mayne 1 less yrespasser..maybe one person undrstands more about grooming..i did..etc..

I am newer to the discussions but i dont see the negativity ebody is worried about..maybe back in the day ebody just had lots of love..but the reality is sledding is exploding with better sleds..more riders..and no friggin sno..people are upset and when not riding they come here and vent..so what?..its fun reading and when they r wrong..stupid..or just plain aholes there is no shortage of people to tell them..

Plus as people read these threads there is learning going on..

U just cant have a discussion that says wow..trail so and so was great today..becuz tomorrow it wont be anyway

I sure hope our good buddy Frank is still in good health! Arizona heat can scramble even a good egg.
Yep, I'm still here, just retired from the "spelling 'stickler' duties", just too much work! :p

This week I'm hiding out just north of Flagstaff, on the east side of Mt. Humphreys. Arizona heat? Omigawd, SNOW! Around 11" in two days. SNOW just northeast of Carefree on Monday 2/11, and freeze warnings in and around Phoenix? What's this world coming to? I have clearly spent too many years in da desert, no winter duds in my wardrobe any more. And sandals don't quite cut it in da snow, either, don'cha know!

a similar suggestion came to me yesterday and i think it would be nice to create a topic exclusively for complaints or negative comments. I just need to think of a creative name for it. Suggestions? A name of "fouled plug" was given, but snowest already uses that one, so would like to come up with something different.

The all the rules of the board will remain (ie. No political/religious posts and no bashing). Plenty of other sites on the internet for that, but i recognize the need and therapy that venting gives, just would like to confine it to a topic that is dedicated to it.

So open to suggestions. Squeaky wheels? Whine list?... I don't know.

Maybe leave the main forum as is.

But create a "special forum" invitation only - for those that have the special "like mindedness" happy thoughts only.

And don't let anyone in that has their own ideas.
