Anybody get caught up in this? Police looked to be pulling off all vehicles towing boats traveling south. Had boat trailers disconnected appeared to be impounding. 2 teams about quarter mile apart 1 flagging the other sending vehicles to the side. Boat trailer inspection???

Rolled thru there around 2pm and did not see anything. There was a big backup in Stevens Point which brought things to a crawl and stop at times and the only thing we saw was an empty squad in the median. Not sure what was up with that.

That was quite the back up southbound and was just peeps positioning to exit on Rt10. Once you exit at 10 nothing but stop lights so logical back up during heavy holiday traffic.

That makes sense as we were going to stop there but right before that we decided on plover and when we got close to the exit I was glad about our choice as the ramp was backed up into the highway.

Cops don’t inspect for AIS but looked like a shakedown on boat trailer lights since some rigs looked to be impounded on the spot. I would think peeps trailering boats thru that area would like to be informed to have lights in tip top shape if that is what the dragnet was all about. I have very little interest reagarding AIS on trailers especially on 51/39 if someone is dumb enough to leave aboat ramp with weeds on their trailer they deserve DNR attention and tickets. This had nothing to do with that imo.

How ironic, I was behind a relatively new Silverado (with only red taillights, not tri-color) yesterday pulling a scissor pontoon trailer (no boat) and the directional on the truck showed he was turning left (which he was) and the trailer flashing to turn right. I have seen messed up trailer lights before but never that one.
Just another moron who didn't check his lights before leaving home.

I was guessing boat trailer dragnet probably lead to many other revenue violations. The main target seemed to be small fishing boat trailers.

Yes on that comment, any reason to breath check.
Also, the "click it or ticket" campaign went through June 3, 2018; ANOTHER reason to breath check.

Around 2010 I had just got on 51 from Highway eight was cruising about 75 with other cars and got pulled over .

The first thing the officer said when he came to the window was were cracking down on out of state speeders.

Pissed me off since he didn’t pull anybody over except me and we were all doing the same speed.

Yep that is a sting area both north and southbound. I have to remember to set cruise and brin it down
Cops use both radar and airplanes often have a bunch of chase cars. I’m not sure why that area but they are going to get me some day law of averages.

Lol. Friday on my way to the yoop, i was doing 81, an suv with illinois plates passed me, i sped up to 84, and he was still pulling away. 3 minutes later county mounty blew past me and pulled that suv over. I honked and seriously laughing out loud as i drove by.

don't know if you where trying to be sarcastic or not but I absolutely believe cops and hwy patrol watch out of state plates more closely then in state plates.

out of state plate gets pulled over and handed a $150 ticket the driver gets pissed off but just pays the fine

a "local" gets pulled over they get pissed off and they might try to fight it, where the out of towner will not fight it as they will need to take a day off of work, drive back to the area and so on.....not worth the time, just pay the ticket!

That's the truth , funny thing was when i got home in my mail was my Illinois License Renewal saying since I had a clean record I could just renew threw the Mail. Sent it right away and got my new License before the Wisconsin ticket ever hit my record.

Not sure if its still this way, but back in the summer of 2001, if you were out of state, you had to PAY ON THE SPOT. This was before all states passed reciprocity laws so tickets in each state travel back to your home state. It didn't used to be this way, but I bet it is by now.

I still have a $320 ticket I never paid in Louisiana......

Yep had to pay on the spot, I was shocked when I gave him my credit card and he actually had the old school Credit card machine that used the carbon paper where they ran it over your card, didn't show up on my statement for almost two months.

it was a cheap weekend till that $115.00 ticket.
