Quoted from a Market Watch article

In Michigan, drivers will face the second-highest rate increase in the country,
as the gas tax will jump by 7.3 cents, to 37.8 cents per gallon. That’s on top
of a 14-cent rise in the average Michigan gas price last week, according to AAA.

Be sure to fill up by Saturday!

Yep here we go again! I told my wife when it was 1.99 that that would not last long. Refined products are still at very high inventory levels. Cushing Ok. storage was busting at the seams less than 3 weeks ago. My suppliers calls it gouging by the speculator.

LOL. Its only an extra buck and a half extra to fill up. No big deal, Michigan has not had a fuel tax increase in 20 years. Its about time!

I'm thinking this is the tax our beloved legislators voted in to (supposedly) fix our roads, among other things, after we the people voted down their proposed sales tax increase.

The bigger problem is the state is sitting on all the funds collected from snowmobile permits that are supposed to be buying easements.

So are license plate fee's, 20%. I renewed my plates for my 2015 GMC yesterday, $260. After 1/1/17 it will be $309. My plates did not have to be renewed till 1/20/17 but I decided to do it yesterday without knowing about the increase, saved $49.

PS - 90% of the road money spent is in the lower peninsula..

You mean the automobiles that used to be made in Michigan? Maybe bicycle manufacturing will bring back all those jobs. No, too late, we can't even build bicycles here anymore, either. Pretty soon everyone will just work in Mattress stores. They open about fifty a week in the Chicagoland area.

crazy when I can cross any border and pay less for fuel and a bunch less at times?(NJ is also a full service gas station ONLY state, NO self serve fuel and less than what I pay in PA)

big scam, and will only get worse
were a way overtax society if you ask me!
politicians answer to every thing, is JUST raise taxes, OR lower it on one and raise it on another and they make it sound like there helping things?

I think the bicycles left first. I remember the John Deere bicycles in the early 70's were Korean, and Chinese. Absolutely pure junk!!!

Supposedly when they jacked up the stickers to $45 a few years ago, a portion of that was specifically for trail easements. One of the last MSA emails said how much the amount is. But that fund is part of how the MSA explained the need for the increase
