Michigan Speeding Class for non violent offenders.... ?

Well, just have to vent about my latenight speeding ticket last night. It is an area that the coppers have cars pulled over all the time so " my bad " no doubt. I picked up on a class for michiganders that don't have a bad driving record, if you take it and pass ( ??? ) the state " does not report your points " to the insurance companies . Did anyone ever hear of this ? Any info on this?

I guess I only had a ticket in 04 & 07 .... Does that make me an applicant for this course ?
I have been working real hard at not getting caught.... I MAY add.

You will get a letter from the state that has the information on the available courses. They have classroom and online. The online classes are $59.95 and, if you pass, the state won't tell your insurance company and any points will be removed.

Yes, I got a letter the other day after getting a ticket on the way to the ride-in. I was doing 82 and he gave me a 5 over which is 0 points.

Some advice, slow down between exit 202 and Grayling. They are saturating that area with fuzz!

0 points on your license, 2 points against your insurance eligibility. IF you did not take the course & just paid the violation, there is a high probability of the ins co. catching it, if they subscribe to the State of MI system or happen to run a current MVR you would see an increase in your rate. Many companies subscribe to the State of Mich for such reports, not all, but many. If you have the option to take the course to make it go away, do it.-Mezz

The thing that pisses me off is I haven't gotten a ticket since Jan. 1993! I was kind of hoping for the old warning to slow down speech. No such luck!

I haven't talked to my agent yet but, if they check, I'll take the stupid course.

You were hoping for a warning going 82 in a what, 65 zone?? You should feel lucky he wrote it for only 5 over.

You know it's another money grab... I should have just gotten a warning, there are no houses on that street, all business, I was very nice to the officer, even told him I didn't know the speed limit or what I was traveling... it's 12:34 at night, I'm not drinking, not running drugs and shoiw the utmost respect for the law...
Just rediculous... I looked tonight and the only sign is right at the intersection after you turn and my headlights don't reflect off of it ???? They just catch the bus sign below... ( WTh ? ) It goes from 50mph on 1 street to 30 for about 500 ft road. They just sit there and pick people off, that's NOT what I pay taxes for.

Geez, I don't know....to a statistician, 3 speeding tickets in 8 years might correlate to a problem, but hey I'm not a statistician!

And now the "easy out" for my post ..."Just sayin':)". Note, I did insert the obligatory smiley in there, too!
