Michigan trail pass

I have the trail pass on my windshield which is very low. If I change to my taller one for colder riding, do I need to purchase another pass?

If your trail pass is of the vinyl decal type take a hair dryer to heat up and peel off carefully and reapply on different windshield. Did this when I changed windshields. Won't work on paper type and have had no luck with the type that separates to reveal VOID VOID VOID.

i believe you can get a lost/damage replacement for less than buying a new one

I know that's true for registration stickers........the charge is $5, as long as you have your registration documentation........but trail passes?????

I kinda doubt it.......no paperwork to prove you actually had one.

I also have two windshields. I'll be darned if I'm paying $35 twice. I put it on the hood. Until all trail stickers are a uniform size and all manufacturers have a specific place to put them, they need to realize that their placement instructions don't work for everyone.

I also go with the hood since I change windshields often...No complaints from LEO so far and I have been stopped multiple times..

I've had better luck removing it at room temp than with a heat gun... Best thing is to buy the stickers they print outta the machine cuz they dont have the VOID when ya remove em...

Thanks for the imput and next year the sticker goes on the hood. I have to watch my expenses but if I have to I will purchase another sticker for my taller windshield. Hopefully it will stay warmer and I can keep the low windshield. I spend a couple weeks in the UP sledding and since I am not a member of a club in Michigan and use their beautiful trails, spending an extra 35 dollars is the least I can do for the wonderful experiences I have been accumulating. I know, from my club, the effort it takes to maintain the trail system and I apprecitate the effort the good folks in Michigan put into their trail system. See you Tuesday!!

Look, the Michigan rules say the decal must be placed on the forward half of the sled directly above or below the headlight. To me that means on the hood below the headlight or above the light either on the windshield......or as I do on the cowl under the windshield so you can see the sticker thru the windshield. Now, I can see where some might have a problem because they might not be able to see the decal through the windshield if it's blacked out or what not. But mine you can see right thru to the cowl. Then again it doesnt say anything on the dnr website about being able to see the decal, only that it has to be on the forward half of the sled and directly above or below the headlight.

Again, it's your interpretation of the rule/law.

Can you register your snowmobile in two states? If so, then no need for extra stickers.[/QUOTE]

Wouldn't that still require more stickers? It would actually increase the "mandatory" decals from 3 to 4, no? Two sets of registration stickers = 4 stickers. Actually 5 because as the previous poster said in Mich regardless of residency you need a trail permit.

Pretty soon it will be like a semi truck, a sticker plate will be needed to mount all the stickers on. You know the new TRACK ROTATION USE sticker, the SCRATCH THE CONCRETE AT THE GAS STATION w CARBIDES sticker, the LOW BLINKER FLUID PERMIT, and my favorite, the dreaded HANDWARMMER USE TAX.

The stickers without the silver area on the side can be pealed right off and used again. Only the ones with the silver area will say Void if you try to get it off. I just went through this when I bought my new sled and had no issues.
