Minocqua to Baraga

Anyone know about how long of a trip from Minocqua to Baraga?

Also, suggestions on lodging in Baraga, MI?

Thanks in advance.

Ojibwa Casino or Baraga Lakeside Inn are both on/near the trail for lodging, both are full service bar/restaurant on site. Snow conditions around Baraga are thin at the moment. Casino has some trailers in the lot and what looks like a group of backpack trip riders this morning.

Not any more it is apartments now. Used to be owned by the casino but wasn't enough use so it is now housing.

Stayed at Hilltop in L'Anse years ago....recent revues indicate that it hasn't gotten much better. But in a pinch?

I'm shocked! I'd be interested in what reviews you refer to.

I see few negative reviews on (click →) Zomato (curiously Zomato seems to think the Hilltop is in Mt. Pleasant, MI, but links to the website Hilltop in L'Anse (?) and out of 211 (click →) Google reviews, only a handful are less than 4 star reviews; plus the owner seems to be right on top of it, actually watching and responding to the Google reviews(!). Most folks don't bother to post a review unless they're either blown away by superior quality, or more likely if seriously disappointed.

It's been quite a while for me, so I can't really rate the current experience. Given the alternatives nearby (then mainly the (click →) Pilgrim River Steakhouse) I wouldn't necessarily have driven 50 miles (well, 25 miles from Chassell, MI) for the experience; that and I'm definitely not a morning person.

A point of note, with regard to parking, specifically, from a Google review (emphasis is mine):
"[Review] …5 months ago
…The staff actually asked us to move our truck because we were in their parking lot and were staying at the motel next door. …
Response from the owner 5 months ago

… Thank you for taking the time to share, it doesn't happen often but anytime a customer isn't completely happy and satisfied with their meal we will redo it so they are. Unfortunately, we do not own the Hilltop Motel and the owner has been difficult with customers's [sic] parking in front of his motel. I am sorry that you had to experience this. I hope we have another opportunity to make it a great dining experience for you."
There's always their (click →) dinner plate sized cinnamon roll too.

We did this trip on Thursday. Trails were excellent, especially from Watersmeet to Baraga on 107, 8/15, and 159. Stayed at the Lakeside in Baraga and took a shuttle to the casino and won a few bucks.
