tundrahog: Here is the trail report from Idle Hours Resort in St. Germain. I think it (unfortunately) speaks for itself and you can bet Minocqua's trail system isn't much better. Jake.

Snowmobile Trail conditions for Wednesday, January 16, 2013:

We got another very light dusting of snow last night so between this one and the light dusting we got Sunday night, we have about 1/4" of snow. I guess you can say it's a start but will take many more snows like these to make trails ridable again. Will be 3 weeks on Friday since I've ridden. Have to say this is starting out to be the worst winter in a long time. Only light snows in the forecast, all the big ones are hitting way south and way east. The weather has been cold so the lakes are making plenty of ice. Trails are either bare, a mix of bare ground and ice, or a solid ice base. Most lakes are now just solid ice with little or no snow on top. We are listing trails here as not rideable. We'll update as conditions change. As riders - this just plain SUCKS!

Yeah i live an hour north of Minoqua and they haven't had crap for snow this year. I thought everybody knew this? Brother in law lives in Tomahawk and he's only had his sled out once this year.

Yep George really toasts my buns when someone posts such misleading information on here that the casual member would read. If it could be ridden I would be riding just awful conditions out there now.

Easy fellas, I think snoduke88 is just saying he is full of optimism and instead of saying "damn the torpedoes", he is saying "damn the forecast". Not that he thinks thing are fine right now.

No need to piss all over his hopes. Let's all hope his optimism prevails, EH?

Ok with me John your sandbox but just not seeing it in your forecast so calling it like I see it today until mid next week........... in a 2-3 weeks who knows? OP was asking for mid next week conditions & would take a lot of snow that is not in the forecast to turn things around. I would rather let him know where we stand now so plans can be made to accomodate his timing.Time off is not easy to get these days so have to make the bests of it.

I don't have any problem at all with you stating how things are right now, in fact, I welcome it. I was just referring to when you said "really toasts my buns when someone posts such misleading information on here that the casual member would read". I took it to mean that you thought snoduke88 was saying things were good to ride and I did not take his post that way at all. If I misunderstood the point of what I quoted you in, then my apologies.

It may be my sandbox, but I share and fully appreciate all the honest reports that get posted by you and others and I also get upset when false info is given.

We don't have a problem John I felt snoduke88 was dissing your forecast by saying don't pay attention to forecasts. That did not sit well with me on this outstanding website where the owner does his best to forecast the winter weather. I do pay close attention to each days forecast & always hope for the best but if not there not there just keep waiting.

Might want to consider trailering to say Mass City then ride north & thru out the Kewee that way can still stay in Minocqua area rather than scramble up rooms for 75 riders on short notice? Just an idea to keep your schedule.
