mosquitoes, black flies, etc....

Was over at Tahquamenon and Whitefish Point on Sunday. At the Falls the mosquitoes were pretty bad (granted, it was pretty muggy and wet), but the couple places we were outside along Lake Superior there were seemingly no bugs.

From my time outside for work over the past week it seems the mosquitoes are still noticeable in wet areas (also picked up a couple ticks in these areas). Drier areas like on the plains or red pine stands are better - as well as very few deer flies for the time being, however, there are still a few black flies finding me.

Hope everyone coming to the Yoop has a safe and relaxing 4th!

Bugs on Gogebic were terrible last week, worst I have ever seen. The fogger seemed to help with the mosquitoes but the flies were so bad we had to stay inside much of the time.

Was up at the Minnesota North Shore Saturday 7/5. No black flies. No bugs at all near the shore where it was windy and very cold. Inland it was muggy with mosquitoes, but the spray kept them at bay.

I was at a bunch of different places across the Keweenaw this past weekend (Eagle Harbor beach, Mt. Baldy, Copper Harbor area, Sandy Pebbles GC, Portage Lake GC, Silver Mt., and Sturgeon River Gorge), and while I got bitten a few times, the bugs were not bad enough to dictate clothing or using bug spray.
