Damn it always gets that close to me.... John you talk about SE MN getting hammered with this next storm. Well you don't get much more south and east than me and there is a little window of nothing right over the top of me in your forecast........ Gonna get just enough to slop everything up and make a mess and not enough to ride from home.... MOVE IT EAST!!! PLEASE. Ok sorry for the desperation....

Even if Vilas gets 10 inches, they won't get it groomed in a way that will hold before next warmup. Sat highs looks good, but after that? Take a look at the forecast for next week.

I'm a sled ***** ........give Vilas 10 inches, will make the best of it... the spring clock is ticking fast... so at this point, any snow/cold to get out works for me.

Way too much H2O on the trails. Will have to have it get cold for a good period of time before snow arrives to not have a bad deal on trails to be able to ride. How bad is Vilas trails??? They look really bad on the cams. Peeps said they were done on this past Sat???

X2...ER and Saint can make 3" go along way with their groomer crews give them 10 to 12" and trails will be very good for awhile. I'm seeing single digit lows at night as well. Winter not over yet that is a sure thing in Vilas.

In the wooded trails, which there are plenty of, they may be good, but you have to get there through the mud and slop. I couldn't believe what I saw three idjuts riding on, just west of Honey Bear on Sunday morning. No way I would put my sleds on that. This looks more like a northwestern WI event to me. I'd be surprised if central Vilas gets 8. My guess 5-6.

Your idea of very good is probably different than mine. Last Friday, there WERE areas of very good - maybe 60%. Then there were areas of good and poor as well. After the 50-60 degree days - it was sheet all along 70W. Bare roads

Sorry my friend; I want it to go north and west, in Green Bay the salt is washed off the roads and we are riding cycles and doing burnouts with our hot rods.

All locals getting on the JD forecast snowfall graphic so that is a good thing imo. Nobody saying Vilas will be excellent but sure will be pretty good late season conditions if we get snowfall of 8-12 inches with single digit night time lows. Been here 13 years seen bare ground to good trails happen before so very doable imo. For me a 10" wet snow base is all I need to have some fun which covers roads to trails, FRs and trails. Lakes are surprisingly solid as of Tuesday since I was out walking on them not slushy many down to glare ice. If you want January cold conditions in late Feb and early March stay home but if you want to have some fun in typical late season conditions then ride when you can. If Vilas and WUP gets the deep snow hit trail conditions will turaround quickly just need to stay away from swamps nothing going to help them and groomers will avoid those areas as well.

I'm with north and west as well. Let it hammer northern MN and the north shore where there is still enough snow on the ground to make a difference. We'd be right back in very good shape thru march if we could get that.
