Moving handwarmers to new handlebars

Can handwarmers be moved to new handlebars? Anyone done this? Thinking about getting different handlebars but would like to reuse everything else (put dragon handlebars on a Fusion).

You should be able to, though I am not familiar with Polaris handwarmers. Most (if not all) factory installs now are a heat tape strip that you should be able to re-glue to the new bars. I did an upgrade to the bars on my X-Fire to a set of mountain bars & was able to do it without any issues. Just make sure you remove the element with a little care so you don't damage it.-Mezz

I have removed a few sets of handwarmers without damaging them. When I did it the sled had hooks on the bar ends so the center of the grip end was removed already. What I did was take a finger nail file and just stick it between the bar and grip and work it loose. After getting an inch loose I sprayed W-D40 in the grip and started to twist the grip along with sticking the file in there to looses it up. The twisting worked god but be careful not to damage it. Mine also had a rivet that I needed to drill out, no big deal!

razor blade them off and move em. not too hard to do but if you think your warmers are getting weak you might as well buy new ones.

Thanks - bars with warmers and grips on ebay are going for more than just brand new dragon/pro-x bars. Probably better off just buying the new bars and moving the warmers and grips over.

if the end of the grips have been removed I don't think you will get to reuse them

Yamaha grip you will, not sure of the others. The last set I did was on my Mtn Max and it had bar ends and got them off, changed bars and put en back on, still using them.

It's a polaris - I have the add-on hooks that I will reuse. If I remember right from when I installed them, I had to cut the end of the grips to install the add-on hooks.

be very carefull and cut the grips off , you can reuse the heeting elements they are just sticky tape be careful , put the new grips on with a air hose then cut the ends off

Use hairspray to remove and re-install the grips! It is slippery when wet and dry's sticky! Also an airhose will help to remove, re-install and dry the hairspray once on!

Any reason to cut the grips off rather than re-use them?

some people put hooks or bar ends for more leverage going around corners, gettin low on the sled and hangin off the side while railin the corners

Indy, I have done what you want to do once. (I was young too) . It is a bit of work and results worked, but just get yourself some hot grip brand grips and be done with it.. Note the hairspray idea (work fast) and air line idea works well.

I did find a set of dragon bars on hcs with warmers and grips intact (along with the throttle block, which you need to remove the grips to install). I might just buy that to avoid dealing with moving the warmers and grips, although the price is about the same as new bars from Polaris.
