There was a meeting last night and a lot of info...

All trails are actively being groomed. 422 Castle trail is going to be packed in this Sunday in the swamp by the John Deer. (colder temps expected)

All have been really busy working out the kinks with the new groomer and operators. Also trail rerouting.

Hiawathaland Trail Association the parent organization which has come in and is getting every thing in order. They bring a lot of experience to the table.

Alger Sorva is the new club name in Munising. It was previously just for ORV but now is "Snowmobile ORV Association"
This is the club that people should be joining if they want to get involved.

Regular grooming reports will be set up soon. The process is currently being worked out.

This is the idea we have on the table now....
Set up a google voice phone number that groomers call in to.
The voicemail is accessible just like gmail interface. You can listen to them plus it transcribes the messages.
At the end of a groomer operators shift they will call in to report what time the started, what their route was, when the finished, and general condition reports which would include hazards - issues with trail.
Summarized report will be posted on the club web site every morning.
Possibly more during weekend.
Any ideas - recommendations are appreciated.
Would be interested to hear how other clubs do this if they do at all.
Most reports for trail conditions do not seem to come from groomers and are not accurate or consistent.

Over all nothing but good things for snowmobile and orv riders in the Munising area. Believe that it is not the same whooped out trail system.
These changes were needed big time and I personally think the trail systems around here are in good hands.

Excellent info, sounds like things will be greatly improved. Looking forward to first hand experience 1st week of February.

We still plan to come up Monday-Friday. Hoping the forecast holds true for that entire area. May be a last minute decision on Monday, as we are driving, for changes to the route depending on snow so far and the current forecast.

www.munisingsnow.com finally went live recently and put up the following on 1-7-16..

January 7, 2016

Grooming operations are up and running. Currently we are grooming everywhere we can. Snow base is about 12 inches a little more in some spots and a little less in others. The areas we cannot groom curretnly due to wet swampy conditions are 419 into Munising and the last 5 miles of 422 North of H-58. Condition is fair. We need some more snow to make it great!!! Have a great day and safe riding out there sledders.

http://www.hiawathaland.org/ This is where the official reports are going to be posted.
It is being worked on right now. There will be a "Snowmobile Trail Report".
The process of reporting and relaying the reports is what is being worked out.
We want to come up with an honest - accurate report.
Early next week at latest this will all be in place.

Munisnow will be using that info from the actual groomers reports at the above site.
Currently there is no where near a 12" base on the trails. Dirt showing in some areas.
Pretty much a foot of powder so far. Maybe 1 and a half in some spots.
By all means there are people out riding. Just know it is still early (snow base-depth wise)

We need this storm to hit. Think Snow

Nice to hear things are still progressing in the right direction. I took two trips to the area last year one before the switch and one after. The difference was night and day. I love riding the area and the extra attention to grooming makes it a excellent area. Big thanks to everyone involved in making this happen. And thanks for the link to the new club anyone who rides this area should join.

Inside Scoop -

FYI – we are trying NOT to groom today as it’s too warm and taking away our started base.
If we get a bunch of riders flooding into town we may go out very late.
Late Saturday grooming is going to start running non-stop to ensure we have a smooth base freezing in as temperatures are really supposed to drop.
