Do the snocross helmets get really cold? I ride in the Manitowish Waters/ mercer area and i get up into the u.p. as well...or should i stay with a regular full face helmet

you'll get a lot of "go open face on here" lol mainly off-trail riders. I would like an open face, but i would still want a full face to go along with it for the cold days.

I'm an open face guy. Like the vision much better. It's definitely a change from a full face helmet. Different kind of set up. Wind is tougher on the neck if you don't have much of a windshield on the sled, or stand up, but it's managable. You'll need to get face protection with open face helmet, like a no-fog (neoprene) or other kind of cover. I had full face and a modular before this, and ALWAYS had fogging probems.

thanks

if you get one of the things like in the full face helmets i think its a breath deflector or something does the wind still get to you as much? and do you stay warmer

The biggest advantages to an open face is the vision is a little better(in my opinion not a lot better) and to me the biggest advantage is the breath-ability. When i am boondocking in the trees i work up quite a sweat, and being able to breath better is paramount. If you are not a boondocker and more of a trail guy i really don't see the big advantage in it. I have an enduro i ride all summer and actually have both style helmets. Highway ride gets the full face, woods ride gets the mx style. hope this helps!!

I have and use both styles of helmet. It all depends on the temp you're riding in, and the ratio of miles to hours ridden. More miles in each hour, full face, more stand up hard riding, open face/goggles. If you're riding all day, putting on a bunch of miles, or if it's bitterly cold out, definitely full face with a heated shield is the way to go. If you're ditch-banging or playing in pow, open face with good goggles is lighter, has better vision and breathes better. All personal preference.

I ride with a open face as well, I like them better. I would recommend carrying extra googles, sometimes it just seems to be impossible to get them dry sometimes!plus its nice to use different lenses for diff light conditions.

If you put one of the breath deflectors in, which it looks like the skidoo snocross helmets have, it just looks like there is no room or space for wind to get in whatsoever...

Anyone have one of these in their helmets?
