I came up on a musher on an unplowed FR today & was unsure how to pass? It took a while for the musher to stop be she did stop tried to set a brake then just turned the sled on it's side. I just stayed put not sure what the dogs would do & good thing I did because the lead dogs veered left on the harness right where I would have passed. I kept waiting & the musher pulled the dogs to the right & waved me to pass. Pretty blond girl not what I would expect in a musher & she handled the dogs very well. Something new every day in this sport & the mushing looked like alot of fun & I would luv to try it.:)

In Northern MN I have seen a lot of Mushers on the snowmobile trails, night and day. The issue is the quality of the mushers and their dogs. We have passed them---very slowly--- and had no issues. We have run across rookie mushers as well and watched as they loose control and spread their dogs completely across the trail.

Whitedust, you passed them on a non snowmobile trail and they certainly have just as much right as you do to be there. It is kind of neat to watch them as well.

I do strongly believe for the safety of the musher, his dogs and the snowmobilers they stay off of the snowmobile trails and stick to FR and that type of trails.

Yep we both had = rights to that unplowed FR no problem at all IMO. Had she been on a snowmobile trail.... well that would be dangerous to all involved in Vilas most riders not ready for that situation.
