hard to top a old G class oil burner . don't think I would trust my ford to get to Patagonia and back.
what a trip he must have had a few bucks saved up just for the crazy cost of fuel out of the usa

The "plain 'ol" XV-LT would be more than adequate for my needs, but …

Just for jollies, scroll down, check out that badass Ford F-650 Based EarthRoamer XV-HD, coming in 2015.

Might have to break the ol' piggy bank though: "Pricing for the XV-HD model is anticipated to start at around $750,000 and go up from there depending on vehicle length, options chosen and customization."

Peruse the whole site, check the various base vehicles & XV models, floor plans, equipment, options, prices … just don't drool on your monitor!

For really extreme off-road travel with your XV-LT, you may want the Continental 41” MPT-81 Tires on Military Beadlock Rims, for a mere $9,944 (Air Ride Suspension required).
Air Ride Suspension is just $17,562 (Air Compressor System required).
And the Air Compressor System will add another $4,839.
