If its a team sport as you say, then only teams with the same amount of cars should be allowed to race and the team wins the trophy and the money, not the driver. If you are not part of a team, you can't race/play by youself.

Its not a team sport and thats why they penalized those not playing fairly.

I gave up on NASCAR when the let them run 4-dr sedans because the OEM did make that model in a 2 dr., e.g Rusty Wallace in the #2 Ford Taurus.

Here is an interesting thought, kinda related but not really. In football (the rule was changed this offseason) if a coach challenges a scoring play the coach is penalized and the play can not be reviewed. If there was an iffy touchdown call (think Lions this weekend) the coach could throw out the flag, no review therefore the touch down stands. This would be too would be against the integrity of the game, but it would also be within the rules. So if a teammate pits to let his teammate win, strategy wins the race. No different then running out of gas before the checkered flag when every body else has enough gas.

Is that a #5 car and a #88 car being worked on right next to each other? Who do these guys think they are!? Teammates? Somebody should tell them that's against the rules...

I think the title to this thread says it all, "Nascar Mess". The whole series is a mess. It just one soap opera after another. They need to make some big changes and soon. No more racing/practicing in a lower series. Cup drivers stay in Cup, Nationwide drivers stay in Nationwide, Truck drivers stay in trucks. You can try to race up in the series but not down. Get rid of the teams. Two cars at the most, and no saying that my mom wons 2 cars and I own 2 cars. No more restrictor plates, period. No more cookie cutter cars, they should look like the ones one the road, put a spoiler on them and race. And I am not a fan of super speedways, bring in a few more short tracks and have just one Daytona, Talledaga, and Pocono race. Flat footen it for 3 hours is boring. I could go on, but thats enough for now. I just can't sit and watch a whole race anymore, they need to step back 25 years and see how great it was then.

Now Gordon is in the Chase. I have always been a Gordon fan, so I can take all the crap you can dish out. But, this Nascar soap opera keeps getting better. Nascar says they let Gordon in the preserve their "integrity". Too late! I am happy Gordon is in, but this just isn't fun. It's not what racing is suppose to be. Get rid of the Chase!

What a joke! What next give the championship to someone who doesnt earn it? I'm glad I don't waste my money going to races anymore.

Justice was done. The only thing they missed was a true penalty on Bowyer. He was not affected at all.

I agree with everything except "get rid of the Chase" It would be hard to prove that the championship itself has not gotten much more exciting since the chase started (maybe not the sport, but the championship). Do you not remember 2 yrs ago at the final race of the season when Stewart and Edwards TIED! How much better can you get? How about the first year of the chase, other than the driver that ended up with the Cup (Kurt), that was one of the most exciting races to watch. At many times during that race, 4 different drivers had a legit shot and they were all 4 racing side by side. Entire wheel falls off Kurt's car, which would have been certain doom, but he makes it to pit road and the tire brings out the caution. Didn't like the outcome of who won, but man it was exciting to watch! Can't tell me prior to the chase when the champion had it wrapped up with 10-15 races left in the season was better?

how about 199? There was four drivers going into the last race that could have won. Kulwicki, Elliott, Allison and K. petty all had a chance to win it. The Chase came about because of Tv wanting drama. When Kennseth won his championship he had such a huge lead and Tv didn't like it.

Wait? What? --- Kyle Petty had a shot at a championship at some point in his career? GOOD ONE! LOL!!!!

Yes he did. See the link. I was a NASCAR fan when it was about racing and not plugging the sponsors at every moment.

When was it NOT plugging sponsors?? LOL. Seriously, its hard to watch when they keep trying to change it "for the integrity of the sport". Let them race, let them rub, leave it all on the track.

So, now with the new rule from Nascar." Driver must race 100% all the race long".
Does then mean no laying back on the plate races?

FYI, A few years back I remember JR. spun out on purpose. Not sure if Nascar did anything.

NAPA drops MWR!! I knew it. 5 Hour Energy should be next. MWR really left them no choice.

Money is what killed Nascar!
Little guys pushed out because they couldn't run with the rich guys!
So more big money goes to the rich guys & then big teams!
Now big teams cheating to help each other!
What did they think was going to happen?

Not once have I heard anyone ever predict anything close to this ever happening. This was over the top and so obvious!! Did they really think no one would notice? The only issue I have with the changes is Bowyer should be out of the Chase.

You have to feel just a bit for Truex Jr., although he was part of the team. He gets bumped from the Chase and now loses his sponsor. He may lose his seat as a result. Who is going to join MWR now as a sponsor and support all 36 races like NAPA did?

Who will NAPA end up with? Hendrick I'm guessing and hope! Or will they exit NASCAR?

I didn't realize blocking was cheating. In fact, I know it isn't. That's part of the sport, and if you block, you run the chance of getting spun out as Sr. did.

The rumor is NAPA and Truex, Jr. will end up with Joe Gibbs Racing.
