Hey there fellow JD'ers. I am in need of some help in finding a new axle for my snowmobile trailer. I am in search of a 2000lb, torsion axle that is 54" outside frame width, and 52" on center for the mounting holes. I have looked everywhere, even the dealers and they cant get one, but they will sell me a trailers, go figure. I looked at northern tool and they just have the 50" and 54" on center for the mounting holes.

If anybody have ever replaced an axle on there trailer let me know where you got it, or if you know where I can get one let me know. I am in southern MN. Thanks for the help in advance.

P.S. got 4" of snow yesterday....and its gone today, Bummer!

We are in Illinois my dad went to a semi repair place and they ordered him an axle. They did not sell snowmobile trailers but could get the parts.

I just did this not to long ago. I went through "Absolute Trailer Sales" in Inver Grove Heights. They found me a Dexter axel with correct dimensions for almost half the cost of what the manufacturer wanted. They sell Haulmark, Loadmaster, and a couple other brands.

Doospunk.... was it for a snowmobile trailer? Do you happen to remember the dem. or sizing of the axle you got. I measured mine up and it seems universal to all the trailers out there but nobody seems to have an axle that will just fit right in. But I will be giving that Absolute Trailer Sales a call thank. Do you remember about how much it cost?

Thanks

Big, I had the dimensions at one point, but can't recall off hand. I had contacted 3 or 4 different places before finding these guys. I ended up providing them with the trailer model, VIN#, etc. They hunted it down from there. It was right around $250 if I recall. In included the axel and hub assemblies. Just had to bolt it on, and throw on the tires. Good luck.

In Northern Indiana (Freemont?) just south of the michigan boarder. I know they build the axles for R&R Trailer and I,m sure for some others. (What's your trailor brand?) I don't know if they sell to the public generally but R&R sent us to them when we needed an axle for our R&R Trailor. Trailor manufactures have axles made to thier spec's accordingly to how they build thier trailors. All axles are built when ordered, Not an item the manufactures stock. So when you spec out your axle to have dexter or any other axle manufacture build it beware! And know what you are doing. they will tell up front once they build it,you own it! 2500# axle no brakes, hubs and all i think was $289.00 and we picked it up, so plus freight.
I,ve been through this with axles a few times over the years.

have you tried Custom Truck in Rochester? otherwise, if you are closer to the cities, there are quite a few places.

I also second Redneck, may be out of your way though.

Try ICKES R.V. in Montpelier Ind. Those cats have got tons of very reasonable axles.Electric and Hyd.brakes also.Ask for Randy Bonewitt.765-728-5668 or 317-728-5191.I'm not sure of correct area code they use. They ship the day you call.

No problem. Just had a call from Pat today who let me know my new cranks were in for the trailer tie downs. Did he have to custom order? Hope your experience with them is a good one.
