Need some help regarding insurance

Hello. I just purchased my first sled (typically we rent for our trips). I bought a 2003 Polaris XC SP 600 with 800 miles on it...in spotless condition. What do you more experienced riders recommend? Should I not purchase the full-coverage for this sled and just go with liability / comp? Thanks for your responses.

I would do a little homework for a better quote.I have had full coverage on every sled I have had.I have an 07 Attak GT and pay $250 a year, thinking yours should be less for an 03 in my opinion.I comes down to this,if you can afford a little extra for full, get it,cause you never know.Peace of mind...

I just purchased a 2008 Ski-doo Renegade X 800R and my insurance company was telling me I was going to have to pay over $400 for the year, but I was able to get insurance with a $250 deductible for $169 for the year...The insurance is through Nationwide Insurance. They were advertising that they have the cheapest snowmobile insurance while I was at the show in Milwaukee...The guy I talked to was James Kelly and his number is 888-821-3535...or else there is an 800 number: 800-421-3535

Hope that helps

That seems high, but please keep in mind if you have a DWI or exsessive driving issues or are under 25 that may also raise your rates. I have an (2) 2001 XCSP and pay $110 for full coverage through State Farm and have since I bought them five years ago.
A couple of years ago I priced out all my insurance through American Family and they were much higher on the recreational stuff than State Farm but cheaper on the cars and home. I think the total price differance was like $50.00 when I was done, so I just stayed with what I had. When I spoke with my agent he brought a few things to my attention like the recreational equipment and motorcycles are going to be higher because most people call them alone. But will call on car insurace and everything else is an added bonus. So a long email longer is price out everything you insure and compair the total cost not just one item.

I would call around. Everything I have is with Allstate but when I bought my sled they wanted a ridiculous amount. Progressive as a stand-alone policy was much cheaper for some reason. I think your 03 should be cheaper than that for full coverage but I obviously don't know all the specifics.

I have everything with West Bend Mutual $41 for 250,000/500,000 liabilty and $99 with $250 deductible on 02 Polaris XC500sp. Also try St Farm. Jim Kelly is a good guy from my snowmobile club Riverbend Benders in Cary, IL.

I had the same 10% of value problem with my insurance company on my new sled. I used Progressive and got a great rate. Also, you do it all online including printing out the card

Just switched all my insurance for the auto, home and sled. Same or better coverage than I had, and I am saving just over a grand a year. Sled went from $261 a year to $54. Went with Metlife. They insure the sled based on replacement cost not CC rating like most insurance companies do. Shop around!!!

Thanks. I'm in Illinois, 32 yrs old, no DUI's, not even a speeding ticket. I started calling around...thanks for everyone's comments. I appreciate the help. This gives me a really good benchmark. Any additional comments are welcomed.

Snow Monkey, nailed it...add it to your homeowners policy. I put it with AutoOwners in January, and get the collision removed in April.•••• isn't that much, and the deductible is pretty low.

I pay $160 a year for a 2005 Fusion and $115 a year for a 2000 XC 600. That's through Erie Insurance. I feel that's pretty reasonable. My deductable is $500.

In Illinois----Jim Kelly @ Nationwide

In Michigan----either on your home owners policy or Charles Wise @ Nationwide 877-946-5831
