Danny boy - one mistake, blink for a second at that speed...SPLAT, hit a mogul you weren't expecting....SPLAT, bolt snaps under stress at low temps....SPLAT! Possibilities are endless. Natural selection in due course - it's thinning the herd. Probably one of the idjuts coming at me sideways out of an icy turn in Vilas 3 wks ago.

At 132 feet per second (90 mph), the only person you are fooling about being in control is yourself. Say you have cat like reflexes and you can perceive an danger and act to it in half a second, you have traveled 61 feet. Something is going splat! Try doing 90 mph on the curves on trail 10 west of Eagle River. I did with a '99 700 XC.

I wasn't going to say anything BUT, my earlier discussion was regarding the 850 NOT the 800 Doo motor. I skipped the 800 Doo motors since 2004 as I did not like that motor nor did I like any of the other Doo 800's until the 850 came out with the "New REV chassis".
I doubt anyone with a non-Doo 800 is getting mileage like the 850. I am 6'3", 302 lbs, ride hard (I can almost keep up to Polaris Dan during the day) and I have seen 17.5 MPG consistently since 400 miles. To me, this is almost the same as the 600 E-tec's I have had every year since 2009 and hard to believe. The oil consumption is not as good as the 600 E-tec (four 85% used tanks of gas to one 90% used oil reservoir) as I only have experienced about three 85% used tanks of gas to about three 80% used reservoirs of oil in the 850.
All sled brands have their merits; but the 850 outclasses ALL other 2 stroke sleds in MPG to HP (likely all sleds period).

Sweeping corners, sure... I can nearly hit 90 on my sled too. It's a matter of physics though. Unless you have the ski width, you are going to hit a tree and get splattered at the speeds a 600 Etec can accomplish. The 800 is good for racing, mountains and deep powder. If you aren't doing any of the 3, it's just a waste of fuel and money.

I end up passing half the 800r's I see on the trails as it is. They buy them because their buddy said a 600 is a chick sled and that's just feeding into a dumb stereotype.

You drive what you want and I will do the same. GET OFF MY FRONT PORCH!!!!!!!!

I wasn't referring to any of your posts at all. I was referring to the countless times that RW results get posted on various sled sites over the past 5 years that counter the mpg bragging the Doocult does about there 800's. When driven hard the mpg's are very similar to there Polaris riding buds. I'd gladly give up a mpg and stay out of the cult.

Getting back on subject, there is a guy on the HCS site that claims he has raced several Doo 850s with his new Cat 800 C-Tech. They were 1000' races and he claims he won all. It's the internet, so take it FWIW.

This comment has been up for at least 15 minutes and no one from the cult has jumped in to defend the 850 yet. Doo guys are off their game today.

I found where this was posted, first topic on HCS haha

On a plowed track with one sled having chisels(Cat) and the rest trail or carbide tipped studs(850), what do you think the results would be.....

Cool.
As a rider experienced with over 1,000 850 miles I would say; a C-tec (or Pro-S or Sidewinder) will beat me when I am riding too as I don't beat my sleds.
But, if we both had a 137 track with no studs I would do better in mixed trails like a Freda Loop type trail and use half the gas.

I'm actually more inclined to buy the 850 as the next step from my 600. I hear good things. If they incorporated the 850 technology into a 600, I would jump on the 600. Getting 20 mpg would be a given. The current 600 etec is 15 to 18 mpg in most cases. The 800 etec is 12 to 15 mpg for most riders.

Very seldom do any of the Etec 600's we ride with go below 19mpg. 20 is a good solid number.
