New Helmet Plans

I am thinking of buying a new helmet. I'm thinking of either a modular or an open face. What are opinions and pros vs cons for each. Thanks

What type of riding do you do? Trail, off trail, mountain?

Good questions.

I have an open face with good goggles and, that's the trick. Pairing the helmet to goggles that really work well with your helmet. I would never go back.

The only time I use a closed face is when it's really cold.

I don't like modular but, you asked for opinions.

what only 1? I have 1 for warm to chilly off trail 1 for cold off trail and 1 for cold trail and a few that just collect dust and take up space .
1 of the few bennys of getting older the hording starting to pay off

I use BRP mod with glasses but would look at a bunch of mods if buying new with weight being the most important issue. Pairing the open helmet to goggles is really important if you go that way. Better to have a bud that knows what works than go fishing on open helmet with goggles.

Yeah depends on what your doing. I have 4 that I use. I dislike open face on trails, so I use mod 2 on warm days, bv2s on cold days. I do use open out west. 509 C2 main out west, and a HJC backup.

with a screen name like Flashy36 just make sure you get the Mohawk option nothing screams Flashy like a Mohawk and maybe the rat tail stickon for the back.
Only kidding I would think any high speed runs with an open face would just be cold

I'm sorry, I didn't mention it but I do strictly trail riding. Getting too old (60 on FRIDAY) for anything else, in my opinion. Thanks everyone. I think I will be looking at the BV2. Maybe I will put a green Mohawk on it to match my green A/C, like Skeeter2010 suggested.

On trips I wear the BV2. Love the warmth of it (don't wear a balaclava), the nice view through the shield, etc. I just don't like having to put it on and take it off, and getting the mouth covering thing just right. Once it's just right though, it's sweet. On sub-zero days, I wear a turtle fur neck warmer and stuff it up against the bottom. Keeps all the cold air out of my helmet completely.

On warmer days or shorter trips, I wear an open face gmax helmet (true open face with no chin guard) with a $20.00 snap-on dual lens flip shield with a klim balaclava. Nice and light-weight. Need some of a windshield on your sled though or the wind comes inside to your eyes too easily.

When is someone going to come out with a new full face helmet? I thought someone here on JD was testing a prototype for Bombardier a year or two ago. Anyone konw if Bombardier is launching a new helmet soon?

My dad just got screwed out of his AFX modular helmet. His shield got all scratched up but they discontinued making shields for it so he just bought a GMAX mod. Thing was like two years old. Have any of you guys had this problem before?
