New jacket

Does anyone have any experience with both the Klim Keewenaw and the Motor Fist Redline? I like the Klim but the arms are a bit long for me. I have not yet tried on a Motor Fist jacket but have heard good things. I don't know of any Motor Fist dealers in N. IL so I was hoping someone might have some insight into why there is $100 difference in these and which is a better choice...

Scott, I don't have any actual experience with the jackets you are looking for, but I wanted to mention that I've seen a few places with sales on Motorfist right now, including helmetoutlotusa and first place parts. I've seen discounts of 20-25% plus a free set of gloves.

One difference between Klim and Motorfist is the membrane. Klim uses gore-tex and Motorfist uses E-vent. I saw on the redline line, motorfist uses toray instead. I assume that is a "cheaper" membrane - even Motorfist's own charts show it is less breathable than e-vent. It is still waterproof/breathable though. When I was comparing the jackets, I got the impression that the Redline jacket is more comparable to the Klimate jacket than the Keeweenaw jacket, as the Klimate uses a lower level of gore-tex than the Keeweenaw.

If I was was buying an insulated jacket, I'd want to make sure it has vents on it. I am not sure if the rediline does.

If you end up with motorfist, let us know how you like it. I bought a discontinued Polaris e-vent jacket last year, and I would like to buy some bibs at the end of this year. I will probably look at Motorfist as one of the choices.

I just bought the Redline jacket this year, got it for $269 at haydays, used it for the first time yesterday by Eagle River WI. It never got above 0, and I have a very short windshield on my sled. It does only have vents under the arms and not the e vent fabric. I wore Under Armor under it and I also wore a Fox Racing jeresy for the **** of it. I did keep warm in the jacket at that temp. I am interested on how it will be when we are off trail sweating our butts off. I went on the Skidoo demo ride they had there in Eagle River and the Skidoo guy on our ride asked how I like the jacket. He said he wore Motorfist out in Colorado where he is from in chest deep powder and never got wet. He did not have the redline jacket though. So far I like it, and it has alot of pocket space on it to. Also remeber the great warranty on the jacket to.

I bought the Keewenaw jacket last year. I 've worn about ten times riding and just kicking around in it. This jacket is awesome. I can get away with wearing a base layer and a light mid with my tek vest and I am perfect no matter how cold. There are plenty of vents too for the warmer days. I had a hard time spending that much money on a jacket, but looking back it was well worth it.

I bought all new Motorfist Rekon gear for this season and love it. It has the armpit vents as well as the back vent and I can't say I ever was cold or hot. I didn't even compare Motorfist to Klim because of a friend who had great luck with his 2011 Motorfist gear. I know there were some issues with the first run from 2010 and was waiting to hear his thoughts on the 2011 before buying it.

I bought mine at the MKE show from Englehart's who is based out of Madison. You could easily run up there to compare since they carry both.

I bought a motorfist turnagain pass jacket on sale. It was delivered today. Nice fleece - trouble is it is very short. I don't know if this is the style so that it fits better when you are sitting on the sled (shorter in the front than the back), but I am kinda tall with a long torso, and it was so short on me in the front my wife started laughing at me. I wish they had tall sizes. Anyway, hopefully the outer jackets aren't this short.

If you are boondocking Klim is probably good, however I had a bad experience with Klim trail riding. I nearly froze my a$$ off. And before anyone jumps me, yes, I had all the proper layers on and yes they were made from the correct material. IMOA Klim is great because it is breathable for those who go off trail and tend to sweat however if you strictly trail ride I believe there are better options, I felt like the wind blew right through me. I rode 30 miles and took them right back, shivering all the way.

Check out the FXR Mountain Line. The Renegade XC Jacket is awesome! Full waterproof membrane jacket as the others, 3 year replacement warranty, vents with snow skirts and much softer quieter material than the others!

Yes you have to get the Klim with the insulation built in or the wind will go right through like you stated.
I had the same experience as you.

My motorfist redline jacket is the most comfortable jacket I ever wore. Moves around great and the fabric is not noisy. It does have a powder skirt that has 2 adjustments also.

Cool glad you liked it!!! The Toray used in our stuff is MORE breathable then the competitors membrane and others.

On a side note...
