Saw the new VW pickup to day, going down 294. I must say,I liked it,wouldn't replace the 2500 work truck. But it should wake up Ford and GM.

That is pretty cool you saw one out in the wild! They are not for sale in North America (yet). It must be a test truck of some sort.

I dont know a small truck with a small diesel getting 45mpg in Europe now with more than enough power to pull the family 2 place with skis or sleds or the fiberglass 18.5 around . and do it in luxury. by by Colorado junk

seems to me this be a blast to the past....the VW Rabbit spawned the Ranger, S-10 and the Mitsubishi RAM back in
the 1970's and 80's.

my bud still has the VW diesel pu he had in high school . his kid thought he was to cool to drive it. now he walks and begs for it lol.
why would ford get back in to the minni trucks they just got done tearing down the ranger plant this yr. never understood the ranger drive a small cramped truck to only get 4mpg better than the f150

The truck I saw was not a proto type. It had IL MFG plates, full emblems, and the best part was the emblem on the tail gate. The VW was the same size as the VW bus badge from years ago. The rig I saw was a crew cab,6 ft bed 4x4. It was a cross between a Colorado and a yota. It had a2. Something turbo oil burner in it?

hmmm why would ford get back into making the ranger ? maybe its a hot seller ,,they all lost a bunch of sales when they dropped the small trucks,,,take a look on youtube,,,theyre all on there ,,it says the ranger is gonna come with the ego-boost ,,,
gm is gonna make a 4 cyl stinker ,,i mean diesel,,,,theres lotsa small trucks out there and people will be ready to trade them in..

It doesn't matter what size it will be, it will be over priced, they all are. I saw a loaded up Ram 4x4 crew cab with the new v6 diesel in it, half ton, sticker was 52k! LMFAO!

VW sales are down 22% there cars are unreliable expensive to repair.

not sure I agree with all that. There were a few models that were extremely complicated, needed lots of attention and was expensive to repair but the Jetta, Golf Bug, Passat have proven reliable,,,,for the most part. I have had two VW's and could not say enough good about them. Am looking for a southern TDI Jetta wagon now.

Yep. No wonder they went away.

Would like to see a 90's sized pickup with newer technology. If the new oversized full-sized trucks can do 22-24 on highway (per window stickers), seems they could get to upper 20's if they kept the sizes down a little.
