I think it will be impossible to be consistent in making that call. I'm all for safety of the players, but this may be taking it too far.

Exactly what I think too. Tell Peterson to not hurt those little guys that are trying to tackle him down field....never happen. AP going to crush you when he can give you nightmares in open field head, first feet first or whatever he has to do to protect himself & just part of his style of running..lol

Unless you have been living out of tv and radio range, you must understand that the league is suffering from some pretty obvious issues regarding permanent damage to the brain and brain stem. Football is a rough sport that has gone even rougher with news of "hit" lists and bonus money paid to take out other players.

The league is under pressure to do SOMETHING about it all.

This rule is it...for the moment. Expect more to come along sooner rather than later.

I'm betting those penalty flags will be few & far between "what the heck" a runner is going in that end zone one way or the other.

Anybody remember Walter Payton going airborn at the goal line coming down in end zone on the top of his helmet only to do it again & again? Defenses started filling airborn holes so runners don't do that any more & defensive goal line stand works with big guys in there. But break away run is still going to get the head IMO.

this whole country is turning in to a big bunch of sissy's and bigger sissy's going along and making excuses.
waaa waaa I took a job that involved having huge men ram my head in to the ground every chance they got.I got millions of $$$$ endless supply of ez women. but now I have brain damage and it is not my fault ?
what ever more rules and regulations just like the rest of the country. got to be having someone else looking out for your best intrust because we are to stupid to do it our self of resist when they do it to us.SHAMEFUL

Ez...I never --tire-- of reading your posts! Combination of very poor spelling, ("intrust"???) and abreva/texting makes your comments ever so colorful...but man....you should have spent more time paying attention in class and less pulling suzies pig-tails.

On topic....anyone want to start up a new "football" league?

No equipment necessary....where BIG and TALL is worthless and fast and quick is key.

Referee's are there to monitor the game and not decide it... "...he touched me.....no I didn't....yes you did...."..."...can we find a ball that doesn't have such pointy ends???"

Hummmm.....wait....somebody already invented it....it's call soccer! Never mind....

I mostly agree with Ezra.....football is a rough contact sport (theoretically) played by large men moving at fast speeds....violent collisions are bound to happen and one can only do so much to protect them without watering down the game. It's dangerous, as are many jobs. If you don't want to take the risks, then find another line of work.

The Tuck Rule drove me nuts stop the game review the play over & over incomplete pass or fumble all up for debate over Tuck Rule. Always seemed more like QB intent than what really happend & how do you know that? Happy to see that go keep some coach red flags in socks or pockets keep the game going.

x2 on the Ezra posts!!! The guy has his head on straight atleast. I think he uses talk to text though or something..... Cant say I have disagreed with anything he has tried to say though lol..... On topic, this has to be the stupidest rule the nfl has come with yet.... As was said if you are afraid to get hurt switch jobs!!!

I guess at my age ... no amount of money & fame & women would make me want to get in there with those big young guys and take a pounding.... ( No Thanks ) 2 things that always bothered me ( well make it 3 )...
1) Constant Celebration,,,, make a small play and carry on like a champion. What happened to team ?
2) Stripping the ball .... too much of that.
3) Leading with the Head, when tackling , putting the helmet on the ball trying to knock it out.

Stripping the ball .... too much of that. Are you kidding me that is an art form. Can't hold onto the ball you won't play much in NFL be sitting on the pines. Even the best go to the pines when having fumbelitis!

Stripping the ball is fine just hate all the guys that go for the strip and miss and then can't make a tackle or just hit the guy and don't rap up for the tackle!

Well maybe it's just the out-right helmet on the ball stuff.... guess we will have to allow stripping....
Is it only me that doesn't appreciate the constant celebrating ?
