NEW OWNERS --- Recreational Springs Resort - Black Hills, SD

Two seasons ago, we took a trip to the B. Hills and stayed at Recreational Springs Resort. That experience was the worst ever which prompted me to write up a terrible review on this site. It was so bad we even notified the BBB. Our biggest concern was the rentals and the fact that they were seriously dangerous to be on the trails. It was just a matter of time until someone got seriously hurt on those machines (again, which is why we felt obligated to contact the BBB). Well --- I had the privilege of meeting NEW OWNERS Brett and Stephanie at the show this w/e. They have completed significant updates to the grounds and (drum roll please)... REPLACED THEIR ENTIRE RENTAL FLEET with new A. Cats. In my conversation with Brett, I wasn't telling him anything he didn't already know. He admitted that they have a long haul to re-build the reputation, but I assured him we would give them another shot (hopefully getting back this season!!!). Knowing how difficult it can be for a family to make it in that business, I felt an updated thread was called for. I understand it's a bit early to be making plans, but please keep them in mind and give Recreational Springs Resort a shot for your next BH trip. Thanks!

I rented a house just across the road from them this winter siting on deck u could see rec springs sweet house for big crews by the way beds for over 12 guys with no spooning hot tub bar etc etc.
but on with it. old owners defaulted and older /new owners were holding the paper and got it back. nice lady and sounded like they were well on the way to bringing the place back on track.

Last time I was there they were doing tattoos in the dining area.

wow hard to believe that this place could not pay there bills when they are packed from one end the property to the other during Rally....

My guess is they still do tattoo during rally....lol

when I first saw that place I thought to myself that its a little far from town..that was 14 years ago now 14 years later the rally has spread out...people are staying farther out then ever now that I see they have Cabins they should be renting them out as any Cabin in the 200 mile range of Sturgis is Rented every year!! next year is the 75th Sturgis rally they are expecting 1m people..the most ever was in 2000 they had 600,000 and smaller # since....Hotels are already raised to 600@night and thats if they have any rooms left.....If I had a house in that area I would be renting it and taking vac to Mn for some fishing!!!one lady gets 10g for 2 weeks (in sturgis) she makes he mortgage for the year and little left....

my guess is the house you rented will be 800 to 1000$ a night for the 75th

Oh, man. Trails Head Lodge is always rocking during the snow season. This shot is of their parking lot in 2012 --- Directly after a huge dump. Best trip I've had over there, timed it absolutley perfect. 15" the day we were coming over and another 12 that night while we were snoozing, then blue skys all day long. It was truly epic.

Yes, Rec Springs has turned over a new Leaf and seems to be a good place to visit now. I was there last Winter and its a good place to stop at now.
