Ive been looking all over the internet at new trailers..... all kinds of brand reviews, pricing etc..... Next week Im heading up to Maine to visit my dad for a few days and he was telling me about a trailer company that they bought their horse trailers from, the brands they have for snowmobiles are Stealth and EZ Haul, they happen to have a few that I like and he's coming to Illinois in August for my sons birthday and volunteered to bring it down. So, what should I look at between those two brands and does anyone have an opinion, they also have a Legend there but its a bit pricey, going with a 7.5X24, they also have a few 7X24s but really only about 300lbs difference in weight and only about $500 difference in price.... I dont need anything fancy just something to get the sleds up north and not be covered in road treatment and ice when I get there.

Take a look at Mission Trailers made in Maine. Seem well built reasonably priced feature to feature to others. I’m a hybrid guy so difficult to stray from Triton built in WI. I’m not finding a whole lot of built snowmobile trailers now so hoping for more stock and used trailers too.
The only thing I will throw out there is if you think down the road you might have a SxS then make sure you get a trailer tall enough. I have a 7x23 inline trailer & never in a million years thought I would have a SxS & here I am with a Polaris General & it won't fit in the trailer due to height.

if not I would suggest if close enough to go there and have a look, they have a great reputation for dealing with trailers and snowmobilers all over the eastern USA
there close to two different OEM trailer makers and as such tend to get great deals on trailers and as such ,many times have prices lower than the rest of trailer places selling same trailers!
they normally have a pretty large selection of trailers on hand to look at, or can custom order one for you!

MY recommendations on must haves on a sled trailer will, be, galvanized axles, good venting, aluminum framed, and back up lights., not sure why more trailers DON"T have them, they make life so much easier IMO!
and these days, I think I would want a live view wireless back up camera system, there cheap enough now, and make life a lot easier when traveling and parking!

I planned ahead for that reason. The closer I get to retirement the more I thought it possible that maybe I think I might get a SxS.
So I got a new Neo 7x23 with the 79" door. Love this trailer!

Triton and Legend are nice, but a little insane on pricing with their inlines. Are they worth it? I'm sure some would say yes, but ultimately you are talking about a covered aluminum box, with axles made by someone else. If materials and weld quality match, then where is the extra money going?
I plan to get a new inline either this year or next, and I'm all but certain I'm going with a Neo. Has a lot of slick features of the higher-priced brands, but is a little easier on the wallet. Seems like a happy medium. I particularly like the stainless center-latch handles on the doors with the Neo. Can get that with Triton or Legend models too, for another 50% hit on the wallet.

I am on my 2nd R & R as I needed taller for my s x s. They build to order and do not up charge to move things around like side door locations etc. I also went 8' wide so I can get out of the UTV easily. I selected a cargo version as almost all sleds now have reverse and the front drive off door just takes up space and adds cost. I am very pleased with the quality. They are including the 6" extra height for no charge on their cargo trailers. They holds their value as I sold my old R&R for $500 less than I paid for it having for 9 years. (stored inside so it was in great condition)

Take a good look at Neo. Nice trailers for the money. John's Trailer Sales comes to the snow show in Milwaukee. If there is a snow show this year?? They brought me my trailer this way. Worked out well. Got the extra height and interior lighting with stand alone battery in the floor so you dont need to be hooked to truck for lights. Lots of options. You can buy a nice v nose for just a little more than a triton tc 165.
I had a Stealth and had to get rid of it. The thing towed horrible and after looking at it a little closer the build quality was not good. I replaced it with a Legend. There are a few things i could complain about, but it is much better built than the Stealth I had. The Legend pulls great.

Why would you make your dad haul a stinkin trailer all that way when you live near the trailer building capital of the US....Indiana....that trailer was probly built right here in the midwest some where....most likely...Indiana....LOL

I was thinking the same thing. The EZ-Hauler is made in Maine, but Stealth is made in Elkhart, IN. along with about 10 other brands. From what I hear Stealth are either great or junk...

Neo and R&R are just North of the boarder in to MI. I have had two R&R. My first one was a 10' clam-tilt. Technically it was a Sno-lite (One of R&R's first which was a lower base model.) Difference was a lighting package and a few other things. I did way more upgrades myself so I bought on price. It held is value well too. Also, two of my friends have Neo's and both are happy with them as well.
My current trailer, I bought in 2017, it is a 2014 custom built R&R 7.5x22PSD. (The PSD has the extra height for SXS's.) From there I gutted it and started over. Upgraded the 120V and 12V inside added insulation and beds inside. I also add lots of light outside and a wireless back up camera system which I have set to run all the time as a rearview mirror. (At night in city traffic it can get bright... but I like my dash lights as low as possible.) Then had R&R add windows and a 20' awning. Sled hauler in the winter and camper in the summer. R&R was easy to work with and even took care of a cosmetic warranty issue. Which they did not have to since I was the second owner.
Above it was mentioned that a Stealth did not pull well. Torsion vs Spring axles can make a difference, and of course with the bigger trailers how your weight is distributed can play a role as well. Especially if you are hauling with a 1500. My RAM 1500 tows great, but when one for my friends with his F250 pulls it, it is of course much better.
Lastly, ICT Sledder brought up the stainless center-latch handles on the doors. I agree these look great. However, there is one drawback. You can only put a small pad lock on the outside. My two friends had two sleds taken from their trailer last December. With that said, if someone wants in one of these trailers. A battery powered sawzall will do the trick very fast. This is a bit of a pain for you, but for long term storage some locks on the inside holding the doors closed would go a long way.

How many toll booths will your Dad be bringing it through if it comes from up his way?
Could be enough money to eat up at any savings, thats for sure. I know its easy peasy avoiding toll roads from cleveland to gary but not familiar with avoiding New York Tollway.
Just make sure you get a 16" on center floor. Some cheaper models are 24" crossmembers. The only complaint with my 7x29 stealth is the vent on top is plastic and didn't do well in the sun. Blew off the other day and was completely deteriorated. But it pulls perfect.
Guys relax, this was his idea, he's retired and bored. Wants to take me and my son to look at trailers while we are up there, I think he wants to ask Grant to stay out there and ride back with him to pull the trailer home... its not a big deal to me where we get the trailer, its just something he would like to do... Dad lives in Maine, retired from the Navy and comes to Illinois about 4-6 times a year to visit so hes not around a whole lot of the time, I have 2 kids that he loves to spend time with and is always coming up with a reason for me to fly Grant out there or for him to come back to Illinois. Thats all this is, sorry with the confusion about the process...... I dont think this is about toll roads and the long pull to Illinois.

every dealer in PA I contacted wanted higher prices than SCotts did?
so, just cause there MADE here in "X" state doesn't always mean there cheaper to buy there
this also was the same deal with Haulmark trailesr, I actually live less than 10 miles from one of there MFG plants and they were selling there trailers cheaper at Scotts, than local dealers near me would?
NO clue how or why, but it was that way when I priced things,m same options same trailers, just were cheaper in Maine than PA< where they were made?
however the costs of fuel to go get one in MAINE< broke things about even LOL

First, and please take this the right way; you did ask for our thoughts. If you haven't noticed we on this site can be very opinionated, but lots of useful and helpful advice is being given. We are only trying to help.
Two, do you have other family in Maine? Maybe Dad is working his way around to heading your way on a more permanent basis. Either way it's obvious that he loves hanging with your kids.
