New Years backup plan

Well, since it looks like my New Years plans for riding sleds in the UP are cancelled, I'm looking for other options. What are you guys doing?

Is there anything fun to do in the UP in the winter besides snowmobiling?

Maybe my girl and I will just stay in OH and save some money darn it!

I need plan B!

I'm still going. Leaving the 30th. If you want to head to Sidnaw, let me know. We'll find snow.

Dave, I'm a little concerned that high temps aren't going to be healthy for trails. Do you think the trails will still be alright?

My uncle is up there right now and I'll get daily updates. If the trails are no good, then I'll stick to off trail. I'll keep you posted as the week goes on.

I appreciate that. I think for her first time riding I should stick to the trails.

If conditions are looking good I'll definitely go!

As long as it doesn't rain during the day, i think the U.P. will survive. 95% of Wisconsin is done for imo.

It may be ok i wouldnt cancel yet...

I have some buddies that are coming up....There is a good base and the groomers are out...well see how much its going to rain, i hope it turns for the better...But anyway the night life in Hurley is always fun..several bars and restaurants to choose from right off the trail. One big party will be at Studio of the Stars (not a strip joint) on Silver st. They will have door prizes, free drink/jello shots and over 4 hours of live music by a local band (classic/newer rock and more) New Years Eve and again New
Years Day. Plus the owner will offer free cab rides to where you want to go cause he owns both The Stars and Twin City Cab co. I know it could change but right now accu w has rain/snow with high temp near 39 but boom...classic after the warm front passes high of 21 New Years Day and maybe some lake effect snow..so hopefully we wont lose that much snow...

Word from Sidnaw.

The trails north are still OK. Forest roads are fine. The grade always sucks this time of year unless there was a recent dump.

I'm going on New Years Eve and will ride north, on or off trail. Whatever it takes.

I'll update conditions on the grade and the rest Wed.
