My wife and I are considering John's Ride-in and we have never done backcountry riding. Has anybody every attempted this on a two-up machine? Is it even possible? We're great on the trails and have been in the deep powder, but never for an extended period of time.

I suspect you will end up divorced if you try to do it with your wife on the back.

Usually they are pretty good about breaking the back country riders up into 3 groups roughly. The more sceneic group, The middle of the road group, and the extreme riders. I would say you will be fine for the more laid back sceneic group. I would also say you should come either way even if you dont ride the backcountry. You could always do the poker run instead. Or just hook up with some of us and trail ride. If nothing else just come for the banquet, good time, good food, good booze, good cause and if those arent good enough reasons, its the only snowmobile trip you can take that is tax deductible!

Good point. I forgot about the scenic group. Tax deductable another good point. You can always rent another sled if you want to do the middle of the road group too. Main thing is to head up for a good time, put some faces with the screen names and help with the cause just by being there. Besides Skylar will be there.

if snow conditions are good for back country, a 2up will be a disaster, they may not even allow you to go with if the freshies are gettin deep

Got it. Thanks for the feedback. We have several sleds, but the wife just likes to kick back and take in the views. Anything more than 50 miles before stopping at a tavern and she gets cranky. It sounds like the poker run is for us. Thanks again all.

By the way, will the hotels be filling up early? We like to be walking distance from Joey's, Downtowner lounge, Library bar, etc... Having never been to the event, will the activities be such that we won't need these amenities? Thanks again for any guidance.
