Didja notice, the forum parsing engine is generating garbage again! On the suspicion that the garbage character in the above was supposed to be an apostrophe, here is is an apostrophe enclosed in parentheses and followed by a period; note all the garbage resulting from that simple string of four characters: (&#39<img src="/vbulletin/images/smilies/wink.png" alt="" title="Wink" smilieid="4" class="inlineimg" border="0">.<br><br>I am thinking about getting one of the newest Honda Goldwings (2018 to present) with the automatic transmission. I don't mind paying for services but I hate getting taken to the cleaners. I do all my own oil changes on all my vehicles, snowmobiles, boats, small engine equipment. It's not that difficult......and then I know it's done right. Now 2 years in on the 2020 Goldwing. I checked what the local Honda dealer in De Pere would charge for an oil change. $260 . I bought all the stuff and did it myself. Mine has the automatic transmission and has an additional trans filter but was very easy and straight forward after watching the YouTube video () on the procedure. The oil change was even easier than my 2003 and 2008 Wings as you don't have to remove the lower front cowling to get at the oil filter.
I absolutely love this bike with the auto trans. Lots of neat tech stuff on it also.
I think the engineers should have to actually wrench on the finished product they designed, maybe things would get a little easier to work on for basic maintenance. I've always wondered why they make a windshield fluid tank smaller than a gallon, since you buy it by the gallon normally?! Is it really going to matter that you make it big enough to get that last pint into it?Sometimes you have to wonder what the engineers were thinking when they designed this stuff. The filter on my truck is behind the front left wheel. To change the filter on the Blizzard, the exhaust has to come off. On the Spyder, I just take it in to the dealer. It requires a lift and most of the plastic has to come off. I don't have a lift and for around $225 it's someone else's mess.
On a related note, I've always changed the oil and filter on our vehicles twice a year. The car is synthetic, and my truck uses a Blend. I wonder if twice a year is necessary with moderate mileage on both vehicles.
