NGK or Champion plugs

Are they equivalent or is one better than the other for a sled. I have an 06 Fusion 600 carb. Was going to pick some up and thought I'd see if there is any difference. I can't find my owners' manual supplement, but I think Polaris calls for Champions. I've always assumed that because Champion made them a better offer ($$) but I don't know.

Absolutely no difference in plugs. Just like 2 stroke oil, buy what's on sale, or save some greenbacks and just use what you drain from your truck.

Now here`s a topic I don`t recall being discussed every year. So here we go.
I don`t no the legitimate answer to your question, but I do recall, years ago, that the ratio of a bad Champion plug was like 1 in 4, whereas the NGK ratio was something like 1 in 20. Don`t no if this still holds true, but that`s all I got.

Go with the NGK lot of us around here having problems with champions, they don't seem to last very long in my lawn and garden equipment. Friends of mine having problems in restored farm tractor's also. dan

Some swear by NGK, some by Champion. Champion has a part number made specifically for Polaris, NGK doesnt. The NGK is not the exact same equivalent as the Champion. But some people still swear NGK run better in thier Polaris. Run whatever you feel like. I personally use champions, never ever have fouled a Champion in anything. I have fouled plenty of NGK in my old Quadracer days. Then I switched to Champions and never fouled another, and they were cheaper. I have 8000 miles on my 08 Poo and have changed plugs 3 times, once for blown motor, once for bad stator, and once because my spares were new and had been just sitting there for 2 years.

Try both, and decide for yourself. See if you can tell a difference.

Can someone verify the right plug for the fusion 600 carb? Like I said, I don't have the owners manual handy. From looking online, Champion is RN57YCC and NGK is BPR9ES. I don't care one way or the other, just need to pick up a spare set.

wrong. NGK has a specific plug for the 2012 ProRMK 800. Champion has no crossreference per NAPA at this time. Both companies make good plugs.

I like the NGK plugs. The cross for your sled is bpr9es. The snow cross racers had problems with the champion plugs, the ceramic on the electrode was breaking and falling in the motor and trashing the motor.

i run one of each then i'm 1/2 rite all the time , the ngk side runs better off trail , the champ runs better on trail , i think thats why it's always darting all over , just keep the champ on the clutch side then i stay off the left side of trail

This very well could be the answer to all that is wrong in this world..........

Im gonna shoe horn a triple cylinder in so I can have big hp when needed too=splitfire plug in the center.....

the 06 600 fusion along with ALL polaris liberty motors EXCEPT '11-'12's all call for Champion RN57YCC. i swear by them and we have had 3 sleds with over 8k miles and plugs were original. but yes riding style and fuel and other factors can change that. NGK has NO true cross reference to the RN57YCC..the BPR9ES is close but not exact. itll work but id run what the manufacture designed for the motor.

I run NGK in my sled and Champion in the 454 in my boat (I also used to run Champions in a Polaris 660 mod I had). Not exactly the same situation, but I will say this. NGK's are gapped correctly everytime I pull one new out of the package. The Champions are almost always off a little. Once they are gapped right, both work great for me.

Zaskar from JD also lost a day out west when he installed a new Champion in his Polaris where there was no gap from the factory - the electrode were touching... Took him a while to figure it out while we were out riding in some DEEP stuff!

The NGK's do seem overpriced to me though in comparison.

So really no matter what you go with, make sure they are gapped correctly (especially the Champions) before installing them...
