Night away needed

I definitely have a case of the pre-season blues. A friend and I are looking to get away for a night this weekend (friday for sure, saturday is tentative). Looking to go anywhere in the lower penninsula, that might have something going on this weekend. Also looking for a hotel with a bar/restaurant on site or nearby.

I'm normally a great travel planner, but can't seem to find much going on this weekend. Any suggestions?????

thanks!

You may want to check out New Buffalo. Nice Harbor Town. There are Hotels w/ Resturant and Bar. Other Places to go also. Brand new Casino. Not sure where you're comming from but it's right over the Border Exit 1 I-94. Fall/Winter are somewhat quiet.

Hope this helps.

How yous feel bout do'n some drive'n?

My brother is 55 and single (knees are not so good, and eyesight not what it used to be) but he's look'n for some action up in Big Bay....at the old huntin camp....jist some light cook'n and cleanin and a woman who gets to the lumber jack tavern in town will get lots of free drinks and dancing...if you still have the energy to do it after a day in dah woods.

Bet he would put you and your buddy up in one of the upper bunks if you want...course it could get warm up there if some son-of-gun sneaks out of bed in the middle of the night and stokes that wood stove up.

Oh, hey...I almost forgot....about dah brand new sauna in the shower house next to dah cabin....dat alone is worth dah trip!

Drop me a private note...on a count we don't want too many people trying to take advantage of this oustanding offer, eh?

Oh...and dis is a limited time offer....hunt'n season closes after tanksgivin...

Thanks Anonomoose, I find this "outstanding offer" so very tempting, but I think us gals had a little something different in mind.

I'm not high maintenance by any means, and the sauna almost had me sold, but I think we'll keep our options open :)

Frankenmuth is awesome for a short weekend. Beat the holiday rush, good chicken, cool downtown, and a few beer houses, and close to birch run for the shopping!!

Frankenmuth is 20 mins from my house, and 5 from hers....too close to classify as a get away, but it is fun in the off season. Birch Run would be a suicide trip...too many deer widows on the loose still.

That trip to your brothers place is sounding better anonomouse :)

mride, i was slacking on the planning. Bummer that we missed the festivities

Frankenmuth, I liked that idea. How about The Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City. Go all out with a facial, massage and a pedicure, then head over to Turtle Creek casino and hit the shops in the resort complex or go into town. Very nice restaurant on top floor.

Great time! We ended up in Grand Rapids somehow on Friday night.

Saturday I ended up coming back around home for a party bus excursion :)

It definitely was a much needed weekend away and a great time.

Thanks for the info Squat...that looks like a lot of fun, but I have a lot of stuff going on around home this weekend.

Gonna keep that place in mind for future plans though! :)
