no electrical?

2005 Skidoo Renegade 600HO, non electric start

Got snow, so fired up the sleds. My Renegade started right up, ran great, but anything electrical was not functioning???

Headlight/taillights not working, none of the gauges worked and hand/thumb warmers didn't work. If I recall I don't think the DESS "beeped" when I started it. Like I said, sled ran perfectly fine, started up and shut down like normal, just didn't have electrical power.

Any ideas? Thanks for any help.

You have a bad relay.Buy a few spares,it happens on the trail all the time.

Thanks for the response, but could u pls be more specific? Where are the relays on the sled? What do they look like? Best place to get them? Thanks again!

I would concur with Woodtic. Mine was an SDI so I don't know if it makes a difference, but the relays were in the black plastic fuse box. I've heard guys mention on DooTalk that on some models the relay was located over by the secondary, but I don't remember specifically where or which models. Lots of info over there on this subject.

I may still have some spares, I will go and check in a little bit. If they won't fit my current sled, I'd be happy to send them to you. If you're in a hurry though, they can be had at NAPA (or probably many other parts places). I don't remember the part number specifically but if you take one in I'm sure they can cross-reference it. AR201 comes to mind but don't quote me on that!

I have been chasing a intermittent stalling issue on my f8.
real fun going over every wire in the sled looking for a short

The relay if not a SDI motor will be a little 2 inch by 2 inch or so black box that will be located around the upper pyramid frame above the air box usually on the clutch side,,they are zip tied to the frame from the factory.Bad relay does sound like what your issue is..It is also just a standard 5 pin relay that you can get from auto parts store or auto parts department at fleet farm or else where,,no need to buy the relay from DOO at about 3 times the cost.

russholio- thanks so much for looking for the parts. Now that I know where to look, let me see about going to Napa and getting the relays. If i strike out there I will touch base with you, that way it just saves you the trouble of having to ship parts, etc. and arrange payments. Thanks everyone for the advice. Let it snow!
