Thats awesome. Are the lakes still wide open?

yes....but...the next 7 to 10 days is calling for lows in the single digits, with highs only in the teens by the weekend...that should make ice quickly...and it's good the lakes were open yet...because if they had ice on them with this heavy snow...it would have been a bad base to start the season...this is really early for this kind of weather (not complaining)...if we continue with these cold temps...we might have ride able ice by hunting season.

sweet. Yea thats what I was thinkin. Thank god the lakes didnt have a inch or 2 of ice. Sounds like a perfect start and forecast to season. Freeze the lakes then keep it coming.

Actually not perfect at all....not even close. I can speak only for our area....there is SO MUCH WATER in low lying areas that with the snow acting as insulation, it's going to take much longer for the swamps and these low areas to freeze up good. I'm hoping to get a call to bring my (old) sled out to help mash down the snow in these low areas so we can take advantage of the cold weather and also do it before hunting.

There is alot of water here too...swamps are full....one good thing..is the lakes are also full...so lakes like nokomis that tend to have those nasty floating bogs, (when the water is low)...should have real good ice this winter.
