This is way off topic and I usually don't solicit forums, but friends of mine on HCS and SledMi suggested I add this to JD's site so here I am.
Friends of ours could really use the help. Here is a short explanation of what happened....
A family friend named Dave suffered a stroke 2 1/2 years ago which left him unable to walk, use his hands or to speak clearly. His wife Debbie has been left pretty much on her own while Dave was in a nursing home. She has bad knees and is finding it difficult to find a job at at 60yrs old. Their home is slowly falling into a state of disrepair although we as friends and thier neighbors have tried to help as much as possible. Dave was always a giver in the community. He was the owner of a Radio Shack in Imlay City and was highly respected in the electronics world. Since the stroke he lost that business and is now buried in debt. They are also without health insurance and are desperately in need of help but for the most part are too proud to ask for it.
My wife and I have known Dave, his wife, and thier kids for about 20 years. They are great people who would have done anything for anyone anytime. Now they are really struggling and need help. Thier kids have entered them into a contest to win a new roof and the contestant with the most votes wins. If you can help please go to http://ridgecon.com/no-roof-left-behind-finalists.aspx and vote for Dave & Debbie in Sterling Heights.
Thank you and say a prayer or two for them.
