Northern Wisconsin update (vilas county)...not a great start

We lack snow, and safe ice...unfortunately we have many lakes up here with unsafe ice conditions, and not much snow.
Vilas county was supposed to open this week...but remain closed...the clubs will reevaluate the trails and make a determination on the 19th...have heard nothing from oneida or lincoln..but they have less snow than vilas.
I know every business up here is hoping we have open trails before Christmas...but it's not looking good right now, and the 10 day forecast isnt favorable for snow and or good ice making weather which is what we really need...the swampy areas are pretty wet right now...a few lakes (shallow lakes) may get marked...but even those lakes are marginal with 8 inches or so of ice (nokomis)...the bigger lakes in northern vilas just started freezing up last week, but with temps in the upper 30s, and low 40s expected the next couple of days...that will put a stop to the ice making, and reduce the little snow we have for a base. Wish I had better news, but we are off to a lousy start for snowmobile season..pray for snow and cold weather.

This is a real bummer. Was supposed to stay at my buddies cabin in Presque Isle just after new years, now it looks like we might have to wait a while longer. It sure started off good...

Yyaaaahh..that's a shame.
Typical winter for a bunch of idiots (including me), better off playing the lottery than waiting for snow.

I have a bunch of friends that spend more time, and a lot of $$$$$$$$$$, in the casino's than riding????????? Perhaps that practice would help you trading itch fuji????????? I know you want that 850 real bad???????????

That's not really true of the temperature forecasts. Those are pretty accurate. Storm tracking is certainly hard to predict that many days out, but warm temps turn off the lake effect belts and that is what bothers me most.
